Engagement Photo Outfits

October 9th, 2006 @ 11:59 am by Mrs. Butterfly

My engagement photo shoot is coming up in a few weeks. And of course, nothing I have that is good enough to wear! So I treated myself (and Mr. Butterfly) to a little shopping spree. But I need your help in deciding what to wear.

Here is Mr. Butterfly’s choices of outfits (they are just different pants).

Here is what I could wear (again, just different pants).

Do we look too coordinated?

Which outfits do you like better?

Our Special Day

We had a meeting with our photographer prior to our engagement session to go over our outfits (we had 3 different locations, so 3 different outfits). He advised against matching; especially same color tops with same color bottoms. He showed us examples of that and basically the couples looked connected. Also, he advised against big prints, anything with logos (you don’t want to look dated), anything super trendy (because you want to look back at these pictures and not be like, OMG, I was stuck in the 80s), etc. Good luck!

i think you should wear a more semi formal outfit. my f and i had our outdoor shoot a few weeks ago. i was gonna to do a coordinating jean outfit like you but my friend said, “why pay so much for photography if you’re gonna wear jeans!?” she was right. i wore a plain black cocktail-y dress and he wore a button down and slacks. the pictures came out MUCH nicer!!!

From these photos the sweaters seem a little matchy to me. Their is some advice on what to wear along with some other e-session suggestions at http://www.joshuagene.com/2008/09/what-to-wear-for-an-engagement-photo-shoot-session/

Ms Butterfly. I hope your engagement session went well, and hope you got some awesome pictures.
