I love to bake. More than straight-up baking, I love to decorate baked goods. Food coloring, icing roses, sparkles, jimmies, funky shapes, pastry bags, molds– you name it and I like it or want it.

On Saturday, Mr. Lily and I were out looking doing a few errands when he noticed a window full of baking items. We went in and the store was my wildest dreams come true: food coloring in every color, silver powdered dust, cookie cutters, fondant to roll out, cake stands, etc. etc. For me, this was better than Willy Wonka. This fun-filled store is called New York Cake Supplies and is located at 56 West 22nd Street.

In the middle of the store they had a huge section of premade sugar and gum-paste flowers that are PERFECT for jazzing up a simple wedding cake. Here are some examples that you can view online (although it appears you must call the store to order):
