A Sentimental Design

October 12th, 2006 @ 1:08 pm by Mrs. Ant

This beautiful silk dress is the chipao that my mother wore to her wedding reception many many years ago.

I considered wearing it to my own reception. But, unfortunately, the dress is a bit too snug. (It “fits”.. but I can’t move. Or breathe, really.)

So… I decided to incorporate the floral design in our ceremony programs!

I can’t take all the credit for this beautiful program design. Rebecca from WhiteAisle has been an absolute pleasure to work with! I simply emailed her some photos of my mom’s dress, described our color theme, provided some text… and she created this custom design and layout on her first try! Even the Zapfino font is a perfect match with its long, elegant strokes.

Note: WhiteAisle will be closed from Oct 21 - Nov 17 while Rebecca and her husband take a trip through Asia. For more details, click here. They hope to come back with exotic papers and new design ideas, so be sure to check their site later this winter!

I heart2.gif my ceremony programs! They are beautiful, one-of-a-kind, and of great sentimental value to me. I can’t wait to see the real thing!!!

Note: I bet you could easily incorporate beading or embroidery designs, lace, or brocade patterns from your mother’s dress or veil into your invitations or programs. All you’ll need is a photo - digital manipulation of images is so easy these days!
