Introducing Bridezilla!

October 12th, 2006 @ 3:59 pm by Mrs. Grasshopper

The week before the wedding I definitely had a few stressful moments and reactions, but they weren’t too outrageous (I think!). When it came to the big day, I was as cool as a cucumber, as my Mom would say. Everyone, including myself, was shocked by how relaxed I seemed. I really thought that nerves would get the best of me because I really hate being the center of attention, but everything seemed under control.

That is until we got in the limo. After already being 15 minutes late to pick us up, the driver asked me about the best way to get to Dumbo. I told him not to take Flatbush, he agreed, and the next thing I knew, we were on Flatbush! Jeez! Then he circled around on one way streets for a good 15 minutes. During this circling time I finally said “SIR! Do you know where you are going?!” Everyone in the car fell silent for a second until my friend Maggie looked at everyone, shrugged, and said “At least she called him sir.” And with that, Bridezilla had returned to a happy, smiling bride.

I think everyone has that one moment of being a Bridezilla on their wedding day, but how many of you can say it was captured on film?

Introducing, Bridezilla!

This was exactly the moment I called him out on getting lost. Sigh. Not my proudest moment.

The Limo
Meh. The whole wedding limousine service is a ruckus in my opinion. I hate that they charge you 40% more for the event being a wedding. It’s absurd! That aside, Coachman’s service was rough. They forgot to charge the deposit for the limo, they wouldn’t let me change the time of the pick up by 15 minutes, they were 15 minutes late to pick us up, and the driver got lost on the way to Dumbo (as previously mentioned). They also only decided to mention the day before the wedding that I needed to pay the balance in cash. Coachman Limo: C (because they showed up).

So, what was your Bridezilla moment?

It’s sad when I hear limo stories like this! I work for a limo company & our drivers are never late, they know exactly where they’re going, you can change pick up times with no hassle & we give special (cheaper) prices for wedding packages!! *sigh*

I added an additional car to drive my bridesmaids to the ceremony while my parents and I rode in the Bentley. The Bentley driver was actually early. However, the driver for my girls was stuck in the Holland Tunnel. We waited as long as possible (thank goodness were ready early!) then finally gave up. One of the BM’s took her car and drove all BMs to the church. I had to tell the driver to just make sure he arrives at the church by the end of the ceremony which he did.

My mother bought a white beaded dress to wear to my wedding and even though she loved it and it had taken her many, many stores to find, I made her return it and look for another dress because I was insistant on the only-the-bride-wears-white rule. I felt bad about my bridezilla behavior, especially since my mom hates to shop, but luckily, she found a green dress that was much more beautiful — and cheaper! A couple guests showed up at my wedding wearing white dresses, though, so what can you do? Am I the only one who’s bothered by guests wearing white to a wedding?

haha that image is priceless. i think my most bridezilla moment was when i saw our cake and it was not what i ordered. that’s when i was the most pissed off because they had an exact image to replicate so there should have been no margin for error.

we all have our bridezilla moments - yours was just captured on film. ;)
