Vow To Be Fit Day 1

October 12th, 2006 @ 5:21 pm by Mrs. Bee

Weight Lost: 2.6 pounds*

There’s an optional 2 day precleanse, but I opted not to do it because it would add 2 days onto this 9 day program. ;) The coach that I’m working with told me the precleanse is good for people who consume a lot of caffeine and sugar so they can deal with the withdrawal. As I don’t drink coffee at all and I don’t like sweets, I thought it’d be ok if I omitted the precleanse.

So I began Day 1 of the cleanse yesterday. The complete Isagenix System consists of the Isalean Shake, Cleanse For Life, Snacks, and Natural Accelerant.

This is what I ate at regular intervals throughout the day:

  • 4, 4 oz doses of berry flavored Cleanse for Life. The taste isn’t bad. You can one shot it or mix it with cold water. I take it in one shot it so I can drink my water with a lemon slice. When you’re drinking a lot of water, it goes down easier that way.
  • 8 oz of water 9x a day (although it says basing daily water intake on half your weight is more accurate, so I think I could get by drinking less water)
  • 7 vanilla “snacks”
  • 8 roasted unsalted almonds
  • 2 accelerator supplements

Was I hungry yesterday? Yes. But it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. In fact I made Mr. Bee some galbi (Korean barbecue) for dinner last night and I wasn’t even tempted to eat any! 8O

Today was supposed to be Day 2 of the cleanse - pretty much the same as Day 1. But I woke up really sick in the middle of the night last night, and went to see the doctor today (I had already had an appointment scheduled.) I’m going to be on meds for awhile so I’m going off the diet for the next couple of days at least. Sorry to break the momentum, but I want to be in tip top shape while doing the program. Will be back on it in no time with daily updates! :)

~~~
*The weight loss is based on how much I weighed at doctor #1’s office on Tuesday and doctor #2’s today. And I even ate breakfast!
I was excited for you to try this Mrs. Bee because I’ve been trying forever to lose weight and it’s been really, really hard. But, I’m confused. You mean, the things you listed above are all you get to eat? Isn’t that water weight you are losing and won’t you gain it all back once you get off the diet?
The first 2 days are cleanse days where you drink a lot of water and juice. The “snacks” are composed of protein, carbs to fill you up. Yes it is all you get to eat, but it wasn’t that bad. Days 3-7 you eat two shakes, a sensible meal, and healthy snacks like apples, celery or boiled eggs. then days 8-9 are cleanse days again.
i was actually getting over a bad chest cold, but last night i had problems with my wisdom tooth. i’m just falling apart. :P
but i’m totally going to get back on the program after i’m better. it’s not too hard for me to stick to, and i’m hoping i’ll drop 5 pounds. i’ll keep you guys updated!
Get well soon! This post is really interesting to me.
I am so curious about a one-week jump start, but my FI thinks it might be a bad idea (because I am really grumpy when I’m hungry).
How did the stuff taste? Were you starving? Does the product come with a “coach” — you referenced something like that in the post?
Am I the only one that thinks this sounds a little scary and awful? Yikes! No food, and pills?
No, Ald, I think it’s scary and awful too. Also pointless. Your body does not need to be “cleansed.” It’s a fad, and an untrue one. Also foolish. You can harm yourself with these fasts–you can get low on electrolytes, you can faint from hunger, you can get anemic–especially since a lot of young women are borderline anemic anyway. I know I would immediately get a migraine from low blood sugar. You will lose some weight, but most of it will be water weight that will come right back when you go back to eating normally. A crash diet like this–and, yes, that’s what it is, a crash diet, even if you’re calling it a “cleanse”–is only good if you have a specific event in mind and you want to look your skinniest. However, you may also look tired and ill from not eating. The best way to lose weight is to cut calories, especially empty calories, and eat lots of fruit, veggies, and whole grains, while getting plenty of exercise. But many people don’t want to do that, there’s no “secret” involved, and no mysterious “toxins” to blame for your problems. I lost a lot of weight five years ago, and I’ve kept it off. People ask me all the time how I did it, but their eyes glaze over when I say, “ate less and exercised!” The people who push these “cleansing” fasts are taking advantage of people who are desperate to look better. They should be ashamed of themselves. I’m sure Mrs. Bee’s method wasn’t cheap. I’m sorry if this is harsh, Mrs. Bee, but you should have saved your money, gone on a sensible diet, and then spent it on a great dress when you lost the weight.
