Who has the best bridal party ever??

October 13th, 2006 @ 12:28 pm by Mrs. Bluebell

I would like to submit an entry!

So I sent out my Maid of Honor and Honorary Bridesmaid Cards about a week ago, and they all responded very enthusiastically with phone calls and the like. I was all happy and thought that was the end of it.

Then. A couple days ago, I got literally the sweetest card ever from my maid of honor in the mail!!! And that made me cry a lot. People, it was awesome. I was like “Wow, not only was everyone really nice and excited and enthusiastic for me, but I also go this fabulous card! Now that’s got to be the end of it.”

But then. Yesterday (which was coincidentally Mr. Bluebell and my 4 year dating anniversary - the last time we’ll ever celebrate this one before getting married!), I got this weird bulky package in my mailbox and could not for the life of me figure out what it could be. I hadn’t ordered anything and it seemed too randomly big and smooshy to be a free gift. Turns out, it was from one of my honorary bridesmaids, who just happens to be the most awesome person in all of creation.

LOOK WHAT WAS IN THE PACKAGE!!!!!!!

And she did all the applique-ing herself!!!

So yeah, point of this post:

a) My friends rock.

b) My favorite side effect of getting married is how you have a nice excuse to be all gushy with your friends about how much you love them! Because it would be a bit random to mail your friends cards about how awesome they are on a totally arbitrary day, but now we have this great excuse and it just makes everyone happy! :-D

Have your friends surprised you with anything awesome since you’ve gotten engaged? Is your engagement period providing many other unexpected surprises?

[I used the word "awesome" four times in this post. I am quite embarrassed.]

“Because it would be a bit random to mail your friends cards about how awesome they are on a totally arbitrary day” - I don’t totally agree with this one. Maybe it’s because I love poring through greeting cards for the best & cutest, but I’m a big fan of sending out-of-the-blue just-because cards to friends. It’s way more personal than a “hey, how are you??!” email, and I know it would make me smile to get one for no reason in my mailbox. And some of the paper/card companies that you guys have featured have some cute just-because cards too…

Perhaps out of this love of cute cards, I sent one to each of my bridesmaids and MOH a little after my shower, to thank them for all their help & support during wedding planning.

I love doing that, and think it’s wonderful that your bridesmaids sent you fun and thoughtful cards & gifts! Hooray for your buddies!

i got engaged around 9pm on a wednesday night and by 11am thursday morning a HUGE box arrived at my work full of goodies from my friend/bridesmaid: every bridal magazine on stands, bridal note cards, nail polish, a veil, and the father of the bride dvd & cd! she had all the items ready and waiting for the proposal!!

I love this t shirt! Is making these shirts a hobby or does she make them for a living? I would love to get her info so she can make me one too! What a great business! I think the gals in my bridal party need one as well! Let me know!
