A Proper Hello + E-pic Outfit Dilemmas

October 17th, 2006 @ 11:13 pm by Mrs. Peach

OoOOoo!! Excited! (Sorry that my first entry was without a proper hello, so I shall start here)…

Hi YALL!!

I, like all the other new fruits/flower, am so excited to be a WeddingBee blogger! Thank you for your warm welcome already. ^_^ I currently live in NJ but will be having my wedding in my hometown, in the suburbs of Atlanta, GA, so my planning will take place a bit here and there. I have 5 months left and am beginning to feel the pressure, so kick me if I start sounding like a bridezilla. ;)

The current thing on my to-do list: Engagement pictures. They have been pushed back to Sunday (as long as it doesn’t rain). A question that a reader, Beth, brought up and one I’ve been pondering as well… what should I wear?? I have a few outfits picked out but currently Mr. Peach has my digital camera (I won’t be seeing him until tomorrow so I won’t be able to post pictures until then).

Our photographer is a photography major who goes to the same art school as Mr. Peach. She gave us some suggestions: “Because the landscape will be greens, browns, oranges, and red, try to dress so that you don’t stick out too much but don’t blend in. Try to match up with [Mr. Peach], but don’t wear the same thing because that would not look good. Try to complement each other. But don’t wear anything white… or don’t let white be the dominant color.”

GAHHH! Too many things to think about… The thing is, I think in the end I’ll probably figure something out for myself, but Mr. Peach on the other hand - he’s a t-shirt and jeans type of guy so it will be much more difficult. I wonder if a black top would be/look okay. He does have this one black sweater I like…

For all you photography lovers and/or people who are taking pictures in the fall, any suggestions as to what color(s) look good against the backdrop of fall foliage?

Our photog recommended jeans and black shirts. Stay way from stripes (even pinstripes), it will draw attention away from your face.

I ended up wearing a black casual dress and fi was in jeans and a black button down. Hope that helps.

My fiance wore a red polo and I wore a black shirt with jeans. I wish now I had worn the red and him the black because I’m super fair skinned. So keep that in mind if you are wearing black. But I don’t think you’ll be able to blend into the surroundings no matter what you wear unless you’re into realtree camo.

I wore a dark brown dress for ours a few weeks ago and my fi wore a dark green shirt and khakis. Those colors worked well with the fall leaves and stone buildings.

Stay away from white or light color shirt. It just doesn’t look good. Not sure why. I wore a navy color shirt and jeans and ballet flats. He wore black shirt and jeans. HTH. Enjoy!

white can be GORGEOUS… if done right. wearing white ist ricky b/c photography-wise it’s really difficult to take a picture and develop/process white without it looking washed out or weird. but a seasoned and skilled photographer shoudl have no problems at all with white. otherwise, if you think your photographer might have a problem with white, i’d recommend not wearing white. but i just wanted to make clear that it’s not that WEARING white looks bad… it’s just that it takes a lot of skill and practice to photograph and process white to look good.

Thanks for the shout out Miss Peach. :)

We’re having the same problem now. My FI is a button down and khakis kind of guy, which is nice, but we both like pastels and bright colors — not exactly good for a fall e-pic. I guess I’m going to have to convince him to wear a darker shirt with khakis. I’d like to wear a cute skirt and sweater combo bc I’m short and pants can make me look stocky.

Or maybe we’ll just wear “I’m with stupid” t-shirts! Ha!

We just took our engagement pics this past Sunday, and actually our photog asked us specifically to wear light colors. I was thinking of wearing black or brown, but heeded their advice anyway. FI wore a tan button down with jeans and I wore a light pink top with jeans. From what we’ve seen so far (he just showed us a couple before we left) the light colors look amazing against the bright fall colors.

And I totally agree with Jenn. As a former photography student, white looks AMAZING when done right. It’s just that it takes a lot of work to do it right.
