This past summer I was at home in Atlanta for about 1 1/2 months. My fiance and I considered taking our engagement pictures in Georgia because that’s where we started dating, and it would be more meaningful than taking it in NY/NJ (he’s lived here for about a year and I just moved here). These are some lovely places in Atlanta I was considering at that time:
Centennial Olympic Park in Downtown Atlanta- A bit of nature, intertwined with the city background.
Stone Mountain- A historic park. Lots of greenspace with beautiful trees and water.
The new Georgia Aquarium (the biggest aquarium in the WORLD!). The key to this place would be to go when it’s not as busy. The place is huge (so I’ve heard) and amazingly beautiful.
And lastly, little downtown Duluth- Very cute town with southern style buildings and a huge fountain. This is actually just 10 minutes from our church so if the weather is nice we’ll be taking our pre-wedding pictures here. 
But unfortunately, my fiance wasn’t able to make it down to Atlanta this summer, and thus we will be taking our engagement pictures in Central Park in NYC (hopefully next Saturday if it doesn’t rain). It’s not Georgia, but it will have to do. Eeeeeek, excited either way. I guess Central Park is not that bad… 
Where are some great engagement photo shoot locations near you?
Ooh…I really like that first pic of Downtown Atl and the aquarium. Those would have been really nice e-pics, but Central Park is really pretty too! 
I’m hoping to do Central Park too, especially with the gorgeous fall colors. What are you going to wear?
Aww! I love NYC!! Central Park is beautiful! But the Centennial Park in Atlantic City is just as nice!

miss peach, love the pics of the ATL. i live in the bay area, but was born in georgia and am heading back this christmas to visit family. i’m having a destination wedding (elsewhere) but part of me wishes i could’ve had a good ole southern affair! as for the aquarium, can’t wait to visit this winter!
I don’t remember if you mentioned it but where in GA are you from? My FMIL just moved to NJ from Cumming and I am extremely familar with all the sites you mentioned! I just visited Stone Mtn park last Xmas and had a good time (climbing the mtn was insane!). I’m sure you’ve been ice skating in Duluth and had hot chocolate at the little cafe place. I’m going to miss GA since we won’t be going for Xmas anymore and I didn’t even get to go to the new aquarium yet.
Hi Jenny! I first grew up in the Lilburn/Norcross area. Then in high school I moved to the Duluth/Alpharetta area and my family is still there. One of the things I miss most about GA: the weather! I will never get used to the cold here… Oh, and the slow, relaxing pace of life there. =)
I agree about the pace, it’s one of my favorite things about the South. But I’m a NJ/NY girl born and raised so the speed is my blood and it’s tough to handle at first but after about a week I love it and want to move!
