Our Cakes

October 20th, 2006 @ 12:30 pm by Mrs. Bird of Paradise

So in my last cake post, Mr. BOP and I were scouring pictures for an idea for his groom’s cake. Last week we met with our cake lady to give her our final payment and discuss the his cake. We looked through her books and all his previous ideas went out of the window!! No wine cake, no golf theme, no themes of any kind really!

He chose a New York Style cheesecake. Sorry we don’t have any pictures, but I promise it looked stunning! We had no idea it was a cheesecake from the pics! It’s a 2 (or was it 3?) tiered square cake. The outsides have large dark chocolate pieces. The 2 tiers are topped with berries. And we have a chocolate sauce on the side. YUM!

Oh, and did I mention we are serving it at the rehearsal dinner? Good thing, cause his cake would be waaayyy cooler, and maybe tastier, than the wedding cake! And he’s so funny- he told me not to tell anyone it’s cheesecake. He wants it to be a big reveal. :)

Since I’m discussing cakes, here’s our wedding cake. It’s going to hopefully look just like this except for deep red peonies on top instead of roses. The flavors are 2 layers of Dobage and 1 layer of pecan pralines & cream.

Ah! Okay, out here in Oregon we call it dobosh, but everyone thinks it’s french. Sooo yummy. I get it every year for my birthday.
