Scrapbook Your Memories

October 20th, 2006 @ 8:52 am by Mrs. Violet

Who loves to scrapbook? I do! We’re always talking about gifts for the bridesmaids, well what about the bride? For the scrapbook brides, these would be an excellent gift. Fill a tote or a basket with some of these goodies and I’ll she’ll love you for it. ;)

A suitcase to carry all those goodies

Hint: I can’t find a picture but I know that Filene’s Basement has a very nice selection of gift boxes that are really inexpensive.

The scrapbooking industry is huge, especially when it comes to weddings. When I first started scrapbooking many years ago, all I had was a blank achival ring bound book, pens, and a few stickers that I bought from Pearl Paint. Now, there is a plethora of amazing tools, paper, and embellishments you can find on the internet and in stores. Some of my favorite stores are:

Michaels - I shop here all the time especially since there is one located right near me. It’s my heaven and Mr Violet’s nightmare because he’s always driving me there.

Joanns - I don’t frequent the store often as it’s in Long Island, but I shop online and always with free shipping coupons!

Kates Paperie - The creme de la creme of sophisticated and trendy products that you’ll probably find here before it hits mega giants like Michaels. I love browsing through here, however, the mark-up is quite high. I rarely buy from here.

Papyrus - The focus is on cards, wrapping supplies and neat accessories, but they do have a small selection of stickers. I like popping in just to see the latest trends in cards & wrapping. They also have a nice wedding gift selection too.

The Ink Pad - This cute little shop is crammed with tons of stamps. They have other things too, but if you want stamps, come here. (Oh and The Chocolate Bar is right nearby!)

Paper.Com - This Store Only shop is located on 18th Street on the same block as City Bakery and across from Cupcake Cafe. They have a great selection of cardstock and invitation envelopments here. I bought my cardstock here. Again, I like browsing through here just to see what’s new.

Two Peas in a Bucket - Website Only. This site is amazing. You can shop the latest trends and check out the gallery where scrapbookers submit & share their creative artwork. I come here often for inspiration. Did you know that digital scrapbooking seems to be a huge trend now? Instead of making a scrapbook by hand with glue and paper, you do it online using software and digital pictures. I’ve checked out some layouts and I do admit that it looks very cool, but I still feel that it takes away from the hands -on scrapbook feel. I’m old fashioned, what can I say?

Miss Blueberry reminded me that Target also carries a small but decent aisle of scrapbook products. I usually stop by when I’m in Target.

Happy Scrapbooking!

First, let me say, I love this board. You all are so helpful and I always learn something new when I visit.
As for scrapbooking, my collection could not get any more disorganized! I swear, it has taken over my office. Thanks for the ideas about organization. The ideas are great!l

Miss Violet - alas what a horrible wife i am. i collected stuff to scrapbook for years (show programs, ticket stubs, etc) and now i just have way too much random stuff so i recently stopped. i just don’t have the time or space to do it anymore. maybe when babybee comes along, i will pick it up again. ;)

but i am a hugehugehugehuge fan of scrapbooking and have always planned on launching a scrapbooking site… one day. :)

I always have great intentions of scrapbooking. In fact, I have dozens of container store boxes organized with items from my wedding day, special trips, special days, etc. but I just never can get myself to finish the projects. It takes so much time! I’ve come to terms with ending up just having scrapboxes rather than scrapbooks. I mean, at least, it’s all in one place, right? Life gets busy!

Ms. Violet, what’s your username on 2peas?

Ms. Bee, I love that you scrap - our likes/dislikes are similar so it’s cool to know I share hobbies with you too. :)

I live by Impress!!! It’s amazing!

I’m not making much sense cause I’m just excited right now. :)

I love to scrapbook. I am working on scrapbooks for my bridesmaids right now. I wanted a unique way to ask them and since they all scrapbook too, I am going to fill about 6 pages with the question and favorite memories and then leave blank pages tha twe can fill together throughout the wedding process. We’ll do bridal party scrapbooking nights and scrap events such as the shower, the bridesmaid lunch, etc.

Thanks so much for sharing all those great sites. I have been scrapping for years and still have not heard of many of them. Your posts are so helpful!
