About Mrs. Orange

When You Know It

October 20th, 2006 @ 2:32 pm by Mrs. Orange

Mr. Orange and I dated 11 months before he popped the question. Three months before the engagement, we went to my college friend Matt’s wedding. Even before then, I knew that Mr. Orange and I had a good chance of being together forever and ever amen (who gets that country song reference?).

But I hesitated to think much more beyond that until - well, at Matt’s wedding, I caught the bouquet.

And my MOH kindly reminded Mr. Orange that he now had to catch the garter or else some other guy would put his hands up my skirt. Mr. Orange tackled a few people after a fumble… and caught the garter.

The twist of the story is that I had to put the garter on him, not vice versa. He was so embarassed hehe.

This song reminds me of that special moment –

When you know that you know who you love, you can’t deny it.
Or go back, or give up, or pretend that you don’t buy it.
When it’s clear this time you’ve found the one, you’ll never let him go
Cos you know and you know that you know.
When you feel in your skin in your bones and the hollow
Of your heart, there’s no way you can wait till tomorrow.
When there isn’t any doubt about it once you come this close
Cos you know and you know that you know.
You can feel love’s around you like the sky ’round blue
This is how love has found you, now you know what to do.

(Shawn Colvin, Serendipity Soundtrack)

When did you realize that your fiance was THE ONE?

From the moment I met him - he has the most beautiful smile and the most gentle eyes I’ve ever seen.

We knew right away… the first week that we started dating! My friends told me not to say anything to him (”It will freak him out!”) and a couple of days after later, he said, “I dont’ want to freak you out or anything… but I know that we’re going to get married.” haha. I love it.

very cute!

my fiance said he knew on our first “date” (which really wasn’t a date, supposedly).

i knew deep down from very early on, but it took me a lot longer to confirm it in my conscious mind as we were pretty young when we first met.

i didn’t get the reference but i smiled because that’s how i always end “forever and ever”…it was also how i ended my prayers when i was younger. :-)

i knew into the second month that my bf was THE ONE. he felt the same too.

We had been dating for 2 weeks. I had purchased a dryer in a town 30 miles away. I hestitaed asking him, but he was very willing to drive all the way there in the rain. I fell in love watching him load the dryer into his truck and strap it down. I fell asleep leaning on him in his truck on the way home. And I knew he was the one when he carried the dryer across my apartment while I was trying to burn the kitchen down cooking dinner and he never said a word. 2 years later I still feel the same way.

Ours is kind of weird. We were friends for a LONG time before dating. When I heard that he got into his first serious relationship (not with me) the first thing I though was “oh, it’s ok. I’m going to marry him.” At about the same time, he had a dream that he married me. All while he was with another girl! Needless to say when we eventually started dating, we both knew from the beginning.

We moved in together the same day we started dating. We were crazy! But now we’re getting married, 7+ years later and are just as happy!

Our first date. We went to see Pirates of the Carribbean and during the film, I felt this incredible urgency to hold his hand and I just thought to myself, “I’m going to marry this man.” I really did just “KNOW” that he was the one :)
