Mystery Registry

October 22nd, 2006 @ 3:16 pm by Mrs. Bird of Paradise

Today I noticed some crazy things going on with our BB&B registry.

1- Two gifts randomly have been added. Like wax potpourri.
2- One gift (set of 2 pot holders) that we had requested has been purchased over the amount we wanted. For instance, we wanted only one set, but two have been purchased.
3- A few days ago a set of pots had been purchased. They are now available for purchase showing that they haven’t been bought.

I know #3 may have some explanations, but 1 & 2 are very confusing! And Mr. BOP hasn’t changed the registry.

I called BB&B (and waited 20 minutes for the rep) and asked them about it. She said that guests can add what they like, but can’t delete anything. So, someone was standing there thinking, gee, she definitely needs more than these 2 potholders, that’s not going to be enough! And decided to buy us another set. 4 pot holders, eh?

~~

Edited to Add: I also thought, maybe someone purchased a gift off our registry and also purchased wax potpourri for themselves and then told the sales clerk that it was all from our registry? And similarly, maybe they went to purchase our pot holders, thought they needed some too, and the sales girl put both as being purchased as gifts from our registry?

Same thing happened with our registry! I checked it last night after my bridal shower and I saw some random items added. I looked them up since the had no picture and the website didnt recognize the items. Oh well. I figure that someone must have bought it for themselves and it was added on to the registry by mistake.

Or, someone printed your registry before the first potholders were bought, and bought more. I now have 2 crock pots, probably for that reason (one will be returned!).

I will tell you exactly what happened because it happened to us as well! One day we had some RANDOM stuff on there, including a doormat, and here’s the deal: When people go shopping at BBB, they are usually buying things for them as well. They put their entire order together and say, “this (pointing emphatically, I’m sure) is for _____’s registry.” and blammo..the entire order is on the registry, yours or not..this story is particularly funny because we went to the person’s house who bought the miscellaneous (sp, i hope) items and discovered one or two and inquired about the rest and all had a good laugh..enjoy and hey, if it shows up, exchange it for actual on-registry stuff! :)

yup… bunch of “misc greeting cards” were added to our registry… the cards our guests bought to accompany their gifts!!

if they’re not careful, the cashiers just mark the entire order for the registry.

haha - kinda funny, although i’m sure it throws you off when you check on your registry.
thanks for giving us all a heads up about the possibility~

Yeah, I just noticed this last night, too! Someone bought a whole mess of Christmas stuff at Crate and Barrell. So we’ll see if I get it this weekend at my shower!

Somewhat related to this post: I just got married. Target refused to accept any of our returns w/o a gift receipt. We explained we received these as gifts. Then, they ended up giving us these fake “low clearance” prices on the items we returned. We go to http://www.Target.com and they are selling the items FULL PRICE. DO NOT register with Target. BBB - we had great experience with.
