Beehive

October 23rd, 2006 @ 2:25 pm by Beehive

In today’s beehive:

  • Elizabeth’s father is a preacher and will be officiating the wedding. How does he walk her down the aisle, give her away and then perform the ceremony since there is no associate preacher?
  • Miss Strawberry is looking like crazy for pink & white or pink & brown lollipops to use as escort cards. Any suggestions on where to buy them?
  • jessi has a year left until her wedding and was wondering when she should ask her bridesmaids. She’s held off because she wanted to be comfortable with who she wanted.

My father is a preacher so he will be marrying us. My only concern is, how does he walk me down the aisle, “give me away” and then perform the ceremony? He doesn’t have an associate preacher so there’s no one to stand in. Do we just ignore the “who gives this man…” part?

I would have him walk with you, kiss you on the cheek, and then step up to his spot. Then I would have him ask who gives you, and, if possible, have your mother stand up and say “her father and I do”? Or perhaps another close family member (grandparent?) if she can’t do it for some reason, but just have them say something about “her father” or “her parents” in there too.

I’ve been searching like crazy for pink and white or pink and brown lollipops for our escort cards. Any suggestions as to where to find them? Thanks!

Could you skip the “giving away part?” I think it would seem kind of awkward for him to ask, “Who gives this bride” when he already knows the answer — himself!!!

I went to a wedding where the father walked the daughter down the aisle, joined her hand with her soon-to-be-husband and stepped up to his spot. They skipped the giving away part.

my father is a minister as well, and wants to officiate my wedding someday… he’s suggested that you could have a close friend or other clergyman you know ask “who gives this woman to this man…” and then after your father replies, he can step into place.

I can’t vouch for the quality of these but they have pink and white lollipops.

Hammonds Candies (hammondscandies.com) has a wedding section where you can customize lollipops. They are a Denver favorite for candy canes & ribbon candy. I’m sure they would be fabulous!

You can try ChupaChups :] They have a strawberries and cream flavor that’s a light pink and white color that I am absolutely addicted to because they’re SOOOO yummy :] They come in huge canisters if you buy them from Costco or some other wholesale store for like $8.99. Problem is they’re not as big as the Hammonds Candies lollipops but they sure are tasty :]

I plan on having my brother start the ceremony so my dad can give me away before he gets up there to do the rest!

I am looking for photo retouching vendors in the New York area or over the Internet. My photographer claimed while taking our formal family portraits that she would edit out the background. Well now she is saying she never said that and she can only make the pictures black and white but not edit out the puke color curtain behind us.

Any suggestions are recommended. I am going to try to do this myself but I would love some back up vendors.

Hi Shellsbells,

I’d like to offer up my brother as a recommendation. True, I’m biased, but he has worked for over 10 years as a staff retoucher for magazines like InStyle and Teen People. Now he freelances but still works for the major fashion mags. He’s made pretty much every celebrity look gorgeouser than they actually do. Let me know if you’d like his email as one of your possibilities!

I also do photo-retouching if you’re interested. But if you want to try to do it yourself first, I HIGHLY recommend the photoshop tuturials on http://www.radiantvista.com if you’re not already familiar with adjustment layers. You’ll be amazed!
:)
