About Mrs. Peach

Jiggle-Proof

October 23rd, 2006 @ 5:01 pm by Mrs. Peach

It’s approximately 5 months until my wedding and I probably should start thinking of my workout plan.

A very rough outline of my plan so far:

1) Watch what I eat: limit snacks, no soda/juice- only water, try to avoid fatty and/or fried foods.

2) Work out: 4 times a week!

And that’s it. Hahaha. Okay, well let me elaborate more on my work out. I’ll do cardio: running/elliptical for about 20 minutes. And then I’ll do some lifting/free weights BUT only concentrating on my arms. I realize, in my wedding dress, that’s the only area that will really be seen by everyone else. (Yes of course, after the wedding I want to look good for my honeymoon, but we’re actually taking our honeymoon 2 months later so I have a bit more time.)

So back to the arms… well, it’s really the arms and pectoral area. You know how when you wear a tube top or strapless dress the fat between your arms and torso sometimes gets pinched. I absolutely HATE that. So my goal: make my upper body jiggle proof! I found some great workouts on-line to get me started:

Combo Chest / Back Fly:
Lie on your back with your knees bent and with arms extended, dumbbell in each hand.

Lift the weights to meet in the middle, above chest. Then bring weights slowly over your head. Return to starting position and repeat.
exercise2.jpg

Rear Raise:
Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, hands to side with dumbbell in each hand.
exercise3.jpg

Lift arms slowly straight back, while keeping your shoulders down. Return to starting position and repeat.

Modified Handstand (MAD props to people who can do this- I almost fell over trying this out!): Stand with heels against the wall and your hands on the floor so that your body forms an upside down V- shape.
exercise5.jpg

Walk feet up the wall until legs are parallel to the floor. Hold for 15-60 seconds. Return to starting position, rest, and repeat.

And closer to the wedding if you avoid salt (which helps you retain water) you might knock off a little more. :O) Good for you and thanks for this post–I need to copy off the workout!

Can you do a before an after picture in a few weeks/months Miss Peach? I’ve tried doing arm workouts before but I always stop after a few days when I start noticing my arms getting BIGGER instead. :( Maybe it gets bigger first then firmer?

Do you watch America’s Next Top Model? Tyra has the strapless issue, on the fourfour recap blog the author terms it vagarms… see it and understand http://fourfour.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/tyra_c7_vagarms.jpg I’m paranoid about it all the time now, and am doing lots of pushups!

Also, check out women’s health magazine. They have many great tips about working out and eating right. Good luck!

my suggestion is to get some resistance bands and use them (in addition to your exercises in the post.) they’re great because you can adjust the resistance and do almost any exercise you can do with dumbells.
