Save Your Toilet Paper Rolls!

October 23rd, 2006 @ 6:06 pm by Mrs. Strawberry

That was the title of the email I wrote my bridesmaids awhile back. I haven’t heard back from any of them. I’m sure they think I’ve lost my mind. But contrary to popular belief–I have not. I’m in DIY mode. I’ve decided to package my ecofetti in packaging similar to holiday crackers. That’s why I’m having all of my bridesmaids, vendors, coworkers and complete strangers save their used toilet paper rolls. Work with me here, I’m convinced it’s a cute idea. I’m going to put the ecofetti inside the toilet paper roll, wrap in tissue paper, tie the ends off and put a monogram sticker on the side. This past flickr find is exactly what I’m going for.

I think it’s cool, but won’t the toilet paper rolls be a bit wide? I think you’d be better off jsut inserting card stock or something stiff in there and havinga narrower roll….100 toilet paper cardboard rolls would take up a lot of volume, those in the pic look skinnier. That said, I really like the idea.

I think it’s a really cute idea. As skichik said above, it may be little to wide, so why not use paper towel rolls instead. It’s not that smaller but at least you can cut that in half and make it two.

i agree with the above two commentors…i think the toilet paper rolls may end up being a bit too wide and short…unless you want it that way. you could even make tubes out of some thick, cheap cardstock and have complete control over the size…and since they’re going to be wrapped, they’ll still look nice. but it’s a really cute idea!

We are also making crackers, since it’s part of my fiance’s family Christmas tradition, but we are going to use them as the placecards.

Here are some links that might be useful for you - if you haven’t already found them:
