About Mrs. Peach

I absolutely loovvveeeee arts and crafts. I used to half jokingly say that my dream was to become the Korean Martha Stewart because my initials are also M.S. Haha. What I like best about arts and crafts is that your product is your own unique creation, and it’s usually cheaper than if you were to buy it.

For some reason, I am obsessed with my wedding being unique and special. Yesh, yesh, everyone’s wedding is unique and special in its own way, but do you ever wish that yours was SUPER special?? Hahaha, call me childish, but that’s why I think I want to try and do almost everything DIY!

I shall start out simple - starting with the STDs. Our STD will be magnets that our guests can stick on their refrigerator. Now, I don’t know about you, but I’m on a pretty tight budget so cost-saving is an absolute must! Below are some cost saving tricks that I considered and/or used for my STD.

1. Print out your STDs as postcards and save on postage (15 cents/STD). Prints Made Easy is a great site that allows easy printing on postcard format for a great price!

2. Rather than printing photocards, print your STDs on regular 4×6 picture paper and save as much as 18 cents/STD. You can take a regular photo and add writing via a photo-editor such as Photoshop or you can create a jpeg image of pretty much whatever you want like we did.

3. If you have a nice printer, you could also print your own STDs on cardstock or glossy paper - which comes perforated at a higher cost. The cost of your STDs will be dependent on how much ink it will require, the type of paper, cutting method, etc.

4. Rather than have your STD printed on an entire magnet, buy and cut magnet tape (these are magnets with adhesive on one side and come in rolls and sheets) and place a small piece on the postcard/picture. A 1.5″ x 1″ magnet holds up a photo just as well as a huge 4″ x 6″ magnet.

This will save you at least $1.30/ STD!!

I used Walgreens to print my STDs (I prefer their glossy print vs. Walmart’s matte print) on 4 x 6 photo paper. I then bought magnets that were used for business cards (I calculated and this option was cheaper than buying a roll of magnet tape), and cut them up in fourths.

Peel the magnet to reveal the sticky adhesive, stick on the back of the STD, and Voila~!

The cost for each STD: a mere 26 cents! (not including postage.) wOoT WoOT!

Very inventive! How did you get Walgreens to print the cards? Did you just save your card as a jpeg file and take it to Walgreens on a CD? I’m technologically hopeless so if you answer, would you mind explaining it in simple terms? Thanks!

I think this is a great idea too… My mother inlaw to be and myself just made 100 hundred just like it, we bought the magnets at staples and we bought lamentating sheets and scrapbbok paper and printing ours… our future guests love them! Very inexpensive!

This is a great idea. We just got done doing it for out STD. We were able to get whole 8×11 sheets of DIY inkjet magnet paper for $.80 a sheet. We put 4 STD on one sheet so we were able to print them for $.20.

I just made some of my own. I paid a girl 50 cents each to make 2″ round buttons (with no pin on the back). Then an additional 5 cents each for the magnets. If you email me, I will send you a photo!
