Mailbox Cardbox

October 24th, 2006 @ 3:33 pm by Mrs. Bee

Recently I saw a magazine layout where wedding guests filled out vintage post cards with well wishes and advice, and placed them inside a vintage mailbox. The mother of the bride then mailed one of the post cards each day so the bride and groom would receive a daily message from each of their wedding guests. I loved the idea and was reminded of it when Apartment Therapy featured Mahvelous Mailboxes on their site yesterday.

Mahvelous Mailboxes carries a huge selection of mailboxes from your basic rural mailbox ($39-$79) to a whimsical fire truck mailbox ($299).

You can use a mailbox as your money box/card holder and/or as a receptacle for wishes from your wish card table. And after the wedding, you can even use it as your actual mailbox! :D

i dont think my mom would be willing to mail a card everyday - but i do love the idea of using the mailbox as a money box/card holder!

Good idea in theory, but not very practical. I’ve heard so many horror stories about card/money theft. Better to use something that’s much harder for any prying hands to access….

What a great idea. I get what WeezerMonkey is saying too about prying hands. How about a locking mailbox like one of these: http://www.mailboxworks.com/locking-mailboxes.html ? Either way, I think this is still such a cute idea.
I just had a basket at my wedding and everyone threw their cards and checks in it. Thankfully none got stolen, I hope, but a mailbox to put them in would have been so cool!
