Very pretty–lots of great ideas!

But I hope I’m not the only one who can’t see how it could come to 300K. I know it’s all in the details, but still…a lot of flowers and some fancy foods are the only real extravagence I can see.

Am I wrong in this? How did they spend 300K on this?

I saw that wedding on Style. He almost called of the wedding because she spent too much. The complaint was that she was putting their goals about 10 years behind. Maybe she should have planned a more simple wedding.

The invites were like $200 a piece. And everything in that cave was rented at a premium price, down to the forks. Apparently, she was “interesting” to work with.

It must be in the things you don’t see as well, like photography, wedding planner, other services, etc. But I agree with Miss Blueberry! $300K is a bit much.

Miss Blueberry-I think it was all in the reception set-up. And look at that cake! Granted, I’m not engaged so I don’t really have an idea of how much weddings cost, but that pedestaled flower arrangement by the door looks pretty damn crazy to me.

Maybe it’s the location? I know food is usually the biggest expense. That could be where all the money went considering they had individual sized campagne bottles, an ice bar, a fire thing, etc. The jewelry and the dress could be expensive too.

It’s a very nice wedding, but I’ve seen a lot of nice weddings for much less money. That is a lot of money for a wedding. I’m very practical, but $300,000 can buy a small house here in my city and I would choose a house any day.

Whoa. We’re not even spending $30K on our wedding.

This was in a magazine? They must be a bit older - I can’t think of a single person in their 20s that could afford such an affair.

That wedding was on Whose Wedding is it Anyways? If I remember correctly, the woman spent all this money and was dishonest with her fiance about it. I would bet a lot of money was spent on caterering and design/rentals. If you have the money to spend without going into debt, I say go for it. However, I didn’t think that this wedding was any more detailed or lush than our wedding which cost 15% of it.

Is there a link to the story? I need to read all the gory details…

And I second Miss Blueberry’s “how is this a 300K wedding?” puzzlement; it could definitely have been done for less!

That’s just ridiculous…it doesn’t matter how it ends up looking, if you had to lie to your fiance to get it to look like that. :(

ooo…she lied to her fiance? No wonder he almost cancelled. The lying is already bad enough, but that’s a LOT of money to lie about

Wow, that IS gorgeous! But I simply can not justify spending so much on one day for a wedding.

Also, I wonder if she made the bridesmaids pay for their own dresses; I hope not!

it could definitely have been done for 300k if you break everything down: tent rentals, venue fees, wedding planner, lighting designer, ice sculptor (for multiple sculptures, premium floral design, luxury linens, china, crystal and silverware, tons of fancy hor devres, full premium bar, individual champagne serving bottles, silk flower girl dresses, etc -

tent rental alone starts at $15k-20k. Flowers easily run into the 12k’s, food easily 20k, lighting maybe 5kish, linens, anywhere around 6k, chair rentals, etc. The cake itself was probably 3kish due to the level of detail.

but you’re totally right - she was making me mad by the end of the episode bc of her bratty demands/drama with her fiance!

what kind of person could put up with all of that?!

I remember seeing this on the Style Network. The cave was leaking and stuff because of the rain, and the fiance wasn’t very happy with the price tag! My fiance watched it with me and said not to get any ideas. 300,000!!!! That’s insane!

i wasn’t impressed until the pic of the reception site/wine cellar - that was pretty amazing - as long as you’re not claustophobic.

Might look good in pictures … but the reality show version depicted a couple on the verge of calling off the wedding due to completely irresponsible spending, lies, & DRAMA. Blech.

The thought of spending that much money on a wedding (max 8 hours of your life) makes me a little sick to my stomach. And especially at the thought of lying about spending that much.

She’s nutterz. It may be a different story if they could afford it, but she set them back 10 years!! Much as I love wedding planning, bridal mania has gone too far.

I agree if they didn’t have the money they should have down scaled.

Beautiful wedding but I hope that with the kind of money they spent on that wedding, their marriage will actually last. I can’t imagine how her husband feels…I wouldn’t want to marry someone who could readily drop 300K on one event.

So many better things that money could have been put towards.
Ugh.

this is going to be my response in every wedding-related disagreement.

fi: i can’t believe cake/invites/cable/bread costs this much!

I would if I could, but this was on an episode of the show “Whose Wedding is it Anyway?”

that’s what all the people are posting about :)

300k? why? lol. i should show my bf this. he’d be speechless. but that money may buy me a decent house in cali. maybe. though all i could think was how awesome it would be to use it to pay off my college loans and tuck the rest away for wedding/house payments!

but the fact that she lied about it does not bode well.

while it did look very lavish, i was really only impressed by the ice bar. and if that was the average guest’s perception, then i’d be annoyed that i spent 300k and people only remembered the ice bar.

the dining area looks kinda scary to me. but to each their own eh?

I can EASILY see how that came to $300K. Look at the extravagance! An extremely simple wedding can still end up to be $20K if you don’t watch out and cut corners at every available turn.

I am a wedding photographer and those are some great photos (although I would have done a couple of things different). Some folks in my field charge $50K per wedding. And people pay it. I’m sure she is one of those people who spent good money on a good photographer.

Fascinating! Thanks for sharing. :-)

Hmmm…we are buying a 4,400 square foot new house with a swimming pool w/fountains for that cost!

I definitely see how all of the money would add up–the reception set up looked like it cost a fortune. The flowers look top notch.

Good for them. If there is one thing to spend money on, a wedding is as good a place as any, but I couldn’t stomach it, even if I had it to spend!

I asw this episode…it was on whos wedding is this anyway!! Yeah…she lied anc worked her way around her fiance to get her “dream” wedding. The theme was “fire and Ice”, it was gorgeous…I hope their marriage last at least 10 years. Its good to show off even if you have it, but whats the point if its all in vain.. I wish that couple and others luck. The wedding is beautiful..but the really investment should be the marriage

I live in the same town as the bride & just so you know, she’s a Wal-Mart heir. They don’t give ANYTHING to philanthropic causes in our town, so I”m a little sick of hearing about it, frankly.

My student loans total a little over $100K and every time I think about it, I have a mini heart attack. Not to mention I got married right after law school, wtih the wedding costing me a third of this crazy bride’s wedding. And I thought I spent too much and felt guilty for buying two dresses (albeit both cost me total of $1,000)!!!!! whoa….

I might be the only guy to respond to this, but if they have the money to spend, I see no problem with spilling $300K on a wedding. If they aren’t exactly ballers like that, then it would’ve prolly been wiser to spend a little less and put more towards something practical like a home.

Any bride that has a groom that allows her to spend that much on her wedding has definitely found a keeper.

And I do have to admit that it looked very unique and awesome at the same time, which a few things every bride strives for in their wedding.

Stunning venue but my God I would have not married her.. 10 years of debt!*chokes*
It does not matter if you got married in your pj’s, whatever you do its not about the cost and how you can throw cash round it sentiment of your love to each other that counts!
LMAO @ GATES OF HELL BTW.

This wedding was held at a venue I recently looked at for my own wedding. The owners of the venue are AMAZING people and love weddings so much they do everything they can to make it affordable for people.

Their “boutique winter wedding package” which includes EVERYTHING (including top of the line vendors for music service and photography) but food, cake and flowers is $8750. This bride was married in February so it is insane to me that she could turn $8750 + food, cake and flowers into $300K and that was just for 85 people! If I was her fiance, the wedding WOULD have been off!

the photographer is http://www.shermanchu.com

those of you doubting why this was so expensive also need to understand that there were other things like invitations with bottles of wine to each guest, save the dates and epic catering as well as private estate rentals and such for getting ready that factor into the cost.

this wedding was truly drop dead gorgeous.
