Another Color Scheme Entry

October 25th, 2006 @ 8:18 pm by Mrs. Lime

I present my version of the wedding blogger’s requisite color scheme post/poll.

My criteria for the colors:
1. Fresh + Modern.
2. Complement my venue.
3. Not too trendy (I know most of my color scheme choices below don’t satisfy this one, so maybe I should just throw it out).

The schemes I’m currently debating between:

[all white]
Sorry, no picture! My all white pictures are on my home computer. Please indulge me and use your imaginations.

This is the minimalist in me speaking. It might be boring since the building is so white and the lawn/grounds so green. It will save me tons on linens and rentals, though. Also, there are tons of flowers out there in “shades of white.” It’s definitely fresh, clean, and timeless. Maybe I would throw in some chocolate brown to enrich and soften it from being too formal red/white/black Modern minimalist.

[white + blue/blue-green + chocolate brown]
This is my all time favorite. I was definitely going to do it for my old fall date as it would allow my bridesmaids to wear rich, brown dresses. It can still work for summer if I keep the white and blue in crisp, fresh shades.

Even our e-pics coordinate!

A combo of this scheme and the next one. It might be fun to mix the two.

[white + orange + soft blue]
My favorite complementary color combo. You should see my color studies from AP Art…most were done in some combo of blue and orange. Mr. Lime is not sold on this one, though. He’s not a huge fan of orange, despite the fact that his favorite t-shirt is CalTrans orange.

Check out knottie Lecirage’s bio for more orange & blue, although I would use a more saturated orange and a less grey blue.

[white + soft blue/aqua + red]
The red picks up on the random architectural accents at my venue. Also, this is a summery color combo if I consider the seasons.

Red accents at my venue.

As you can see from the items in my closet below, I love this combo fashion-wise. I have a casual Diesel bag in these colors that I forgot take a picture of to add to this mix, too.

Pulling inspiration out of my closet.

Please vote on which you like best. I’d love to have all your input and opinions, even if it’s “I hate all of the options.” Limes are pretty thick-skinned…bring it!

Which is your favorite color scheme?

the white/soft blue/red combo would look great. how often does your colors automatically fit your venue? all 3 colors look great together plus you wouldn’t have to worry about clashing with anything.

though i did laugh at the caltrans orange. it’s so bright and obnoxious!

I’m thinking a recent issue of Martha Stewart did the white/soft blue/red combo? :) It would be perfect!
And just to let you know… Mr. Lemon LOVES orange but refused to have it as a wedding color

I love white/orange/soft blue. Well, actually just orange and soft blue. I have this weird aversion to white flowers, so I didn’t want white anything except for my dress! Orange and soft blue was my runner-up color scheme. I collected a number of pics. I may still have them somewhere, if you’re interested….

I’m not patriotic enough to dig the red/white/blue, even if “blue” is really “aqua,” and that’s saying a lot, in light of the fact that I own those PF flip-flops. ;)

I picked the red combo because I think the most important reason for a color combo is because it’s symbolic. Pick a color that means something and then pick an accent color.

white + soft blue/aqua + RED! it’s obvious that you’re naturally drawn to this combo.. plus it’s striking & unconventional, gorgeous, and fits your venue perfectly!!

(btw, my own color scheme is white + sky blue + mango orange!)

I love how the white+aqua+red will look in your venue! I’m a total fan of colors picking up accents that would otherwise go unnoticed. Plus, I think it fits all your criterion perfectly.

I second weezermonkey. I love this idea of orange and blue! May be trendy, though.

Red/blue/white is second for me. :O)

I did the white (although really mine was ivory), blue/blue-green, and chocolate brown. With just a dash of red accents (I did the pocket tags featured in MS Wedding magazine, and i had red doube-happiness stickers on my favor tags).

I do like the all white theme too, so gorgeous against the grassy green!

I think the white/aqua/red would match your venue perfectly! My own colors are cream, aqua, and deep gold (debating on adding a few coffee accents) so I feel you on the light teal thing… I love it!! :)

I love both the red/aqua and orange/aqua ideas.

Le Cirage’s bio is just beautiful and I’ve seen a gorgeous spread of the red/aqua scheme in MS Weddings.

White/aqua/red would be SO stunning and unique! It would also go fabulously with your super cool venue.

I have pics of a pool blue and orange wedding on my blog. The BM dresses were like, a deep teal blue (not the hideous 80s teal) with bouquets of cream and orange roses and peacock feathers.

The reception was mostly orange and white, kind of like a creamsicle. Check it out!

I like the all white idea the best (I’m in the minority it would appear). But for your venue I think the blues and browns would be best. But I do love the orange and blue, simply because that invitation is so cute.
