Feeling Domestic?

October 26th, 2006 @ 10:28 am by Mrs. Strawberry

Sometimes, when I’m a “crafty-wedding” mood, I like to sit down and have a sandwich. A sandwich in the shape of a wedding cake! Shaa! I know! I have a lot of free time. For those of you who don’t, maybe you could just make these for a wedding shower? :)

I’m loving this mini wedding cake kick we’re on! First VivaLaMonkee’s tiny cakes, now this! Too cute and yummy :-)

I saw the flower sandwiches once and I tried to make them. They turned out so cute! But a lot of bread was wasted! (I guess you can use them to make croutons) But everyone wanted to eat one of these sandwiches… regardless of what they were filled with. But those wedding cakes are sooo cute! I bet you could use real cake too by baking a flat sheet of it. The possibilities are endless!

cindy–I’ve made cake on a cookie/baking sheet before. It worked well, but you have to be careful not to burn it (since there’s so much surface area) so your cook time will prob. be a lot shorter.

Hmm…this sounds like a project I should try this weekend! :-D

OR…omg I just thought of this…what about doing these w/ rice crispie treats?!?! or fudge!!!! Holy cow, Batman!

ooo — wasted food! my mother would be very upset! here’s a fix i use:

use mini-loaves of bread (like the kind used for hors d’oeuvres)
then build the sandwich using the cutouts
process the bread scraps into bread crumbs
this way, you waste no bread and filling!
