Google Calendar

October 26th, 2006 @ 12:56 pm by Mrs. Apple

For the past 3 months I’ve been swamped with wedding planning and house decorating duties. My “To Do List” has gotten so long that I get all flustered just looking at it. When the madness of wedding planning began, I was searching high and low for a good calendar and scheduler. My main reason for the calender was to keep track of my appointments with vendors - I wanted one that had enough writing space to take notes but was small enough to fit in my purse so it could go with me everywhere.

Since I needed a new phone anyway, (I’ve had the same Sprint phone for the past 3 years or so) I decided to purchase the T-Mobile Blackberry 7290 and I love it! It’s the most useful phone I’ve ever had - it’s got a great built-in calendar with set reminders that I use every single day, instant email access for Weddingbee of course winky.gif, instant messaging, web access for Weddingbee of course blush6.gif, etc.

If you look closely you can see one or more “dots” on each day which represent appointments and things on my “to do list.” Almost all of my days are full!

I also just found out that Google has this awesome calendar. It has set reminders, mobile phone notifications, even your family and friends can check your days to see if you’re available for lunch/dinner!

Has anyone used this tool? What are your thoughts on it ?

i just got that same phone (but from verizon) this past weekend! i’m so lazy when it comes to learning how to use all the functions - you’re way ahead of me!

and google calendar is supposed to be awesome… i haven’t really used it myself, but it might work out nicely with the blackberry. :)

I LOVE GOOGLE CALENDAR. It’s a great tool. You can “manage” several different calendars. for example, i have one for personal, work events, bills due, my fiance’s stuff. it’s great and you can color code all of it. very easy to use. you can give access to certain people to either view or make changes. my fiance references it to make his appts. too!

Google Calendar is great! My fiancee and I use it to coordinate our schedules. One of the best features is that it will send text message reminders to your cellphone.

LOVE love love google calander. FI and I use it to coordinate our lives. If a friend invites us to dinner I can look and see that he’s already got plans with a friend so only I can make it, etc. And you can have different colors for different things, on ours all wedding related stuff is red, work is black, my personal things are purple, etc and you can click different calanders off and on so if I only want to see wedding appointments I only turn that calander on. It’s great!

We started using Google calendars when our lives became too hectic to keep up. Now we each have our own calendar, plus a joint wedding calendar to keep up with appointments and due dates for payments, etc. And, it gives you a good look at your week, so we are able to plan ahead and be sure we schedule plenty of time to just hang out with each other!

Google spreadsheets looks pretty useful too (you can share your spreadsheets instead of constantly emailing updated versions to each other) — too bad I discovered it only days before our wedding!

Love Google Calendar

For a NYC weddingbee w/ a street-parking car, the alternative side parking suspention calendar ROCKS!

my fh and i were just joking last night that after the wedding, we’d have to send thank you cards to google and flickr because we could not have planned this wedding without them.

we use google calendar shared between us, both moh have access so they can see what’s going on. and i might have to take a screenshot, our google spreadsheet has like 12 tabs on it. we use it for everything — seating chart, guest list, gift tracking, budget, timeline, to-do list, etc. we are constantly both updating the spreadsheet during the day. lifesaver!

I can’t live w/o Google calendar. My bf and I share calendars making plans for our hectic schedules easier.

I also recommend Google Notebooks. If you browse many sites doing research on a topic i.e. weddings, you can collect notes and things (as in a notebook) and look at them later in an organized fashion.

Check it out!!!!!!
