Someone I Will Miss Over The Long Anticipated Honeymoon : wedding honeymoon new york pets Cat cat.jpg

My cat is one of those not-so-independent cats. She likes to sit on my lap, sleep next to me on the bed and talk to Mr. Orange and I when we arrive home. So, I’m wondering how she’ll bear 6 days without us? Or should I say how will I bear 6 days without her?

Are you leaving a pet behind when you go on your honeymoon?

We are leaving behind our puppy Einstein. :( I really don’t want to go without him! I think my sister is going to watch him though, so at least we don’t have to put him in a kennel.

We’re leaving behind our puppy for 12 days! We are already sad. But she’ll be with my parents, who spoil her so much that I fear for our unborn children!!!

Yes, I’m so so sad that we’ll have to leave our kitten!! My brother & SIL have babysat her before, or we could leave her with my parents who are moving to be more conveniently located, but it still makes me soooo sad. Especially since the first time we left her with my brother & SIL she was so scared she hid under the sofa for 48 hours without eating/drinking/using litter and peed all over my brother when he was finally able to catch her!! But subsequent visits she’s been fine after getting to know their cats a bit. :-)

For our wedding we left behind 2 cats. Luckily I found some awesome pet sitters who love playing with them and leave us cute little report cards of what happened at every visit.

We’re leaving behind our mini-dachshund, Woofie. BUT, we’re only going to be gone for 5 nights, and we’re leaving him with my dad, who loves him. And Woofie loves my dad so much, in fact, that when we go get him after dropping him off, he has an attitude and barks at us from my dad’s lap. Punk.

Yes-my two dachshunds! :(
Unfortunately for them, I am having a destination wedding and no one will be around to watch them-they will need to go to a kennel and I am beyond horrified by this thought. This is giving me much undo stress…My puppy Bailey has serious separation anxiety when it comes to me and I am so afraid he will not eat while I am gone or something like that. The only person who they have ever stayed with is my sister whom they adore. She is actually coming back after the wedding and she will pick them up before we get home…at least that is some comfort.
I don’t want them to think I abandoned them!

Miss Plumeria

As a gift from Mr. Plumeria himself, my tiny adorable gray bunny will definitely be missed. Luckily, he’s less maintenance than a dog or cat, so it’s fairly easy to find someone to look after him. I know bunnies might seem boring, but they really do have such personality when they get to know you. :)

Miss Plumeria: Mr. Orange had one other pet in his life — and that was his pet bunny. I forgot his/her name but it lives in the Orange Family living room (or so I’ve heard). Bunnies are alright :-)

First of all, your cat is just too cute!

I have two cats, plus one that my cousin has asked me to take in as she transitions between jobs, etc. (I’ve now had the cat for about 4 months so am thinking I may be stuck with it. lol)

I think cats are so nice when it comes to traveling, so much easier than dogs. :)

Yes, my cat yoda. But its okay. Yoda is very independent, and not scared of strangers. He stayed with my brother each time we go on vacation.

Yes, we’ll be leaving behind our adorable cat Oscar. He’s a not-so-independent cat too. The good news is we’ve left him with a cat sitter before so I’m sure he’ll be fine. We may leave him with my sister though, in which case he will be in kitty heaven.

Miss Orange-
I don’t mean to worry you BUT….
My husband and left our cat in the care of a catsitter while we were on our two week honeymoon and came home to learn that he died while we were away. The autopsy showed that there was absolutely nothing wrong with his health - we can only conclude that he died of a broken heart - he must have felt that we had abandoned him. It was absolutely horrible - something that we are still grieving with. If your cat is dependant like our was, I highly suggest having someone who is familiar with the cat look over him/her - someone who will spend the time and give the cat the attention and affection he/she is used to getting from you. If you have to hire a cat sitter explain how dependant the cat is and that she required a great deal of attention. Our cat sitter probably changed the litter and fed our little Calvin, but did not give him the other important attention he required. Again, I really hope this does not worry you (we were away twice as long as you are going to be) only emphasizes the importance of whose care you leave your pet in.
