Mr. Bee doesn’t understand why I never wear makeup when we go out, but always put makeup on when I go out with my girlfriends. For him it’s the exact opposite - he doesn’t care what he looks like in front of his friends. If he’s going to get dressed up, it’s going to be for me.
I was having dinner with a couple of Ladies Who Launch members awhile back and asked them if they were the same way. They all said yes - women dress for other women, not for men was our consensus.
Do you get more dressed up when you go out with your girlfriends than you do when you go out with your significant others?

My girlfriends always look nice, all dolled up, I feel like I have to measure up going out with them. With my fiance I never wear make up. But he sort of prefers me w/out anyways.
I dress up for both! Though, I wonder why is it that women dress up for other women? I mean, aren’t we out there trying to attract other MEN? But then again, men hardly appreciate or notice the little details we put into how we look.

In general, yes. But, sometimes I’ll put make-up on when it’s just the two of us and we’re staying in or going out.
i dress up more when i’m nervous about things actually… so for my close friends and boyfriend it’s not such a big thing, but for job interviews, oh man! out come the masking agent.
I dress up when I go out, regardless of who it’s with. My fiance probably sees me without makeup more because I don’t generally put much on when we’re going to a store or just around the house.
The type of event dictates much more whether I wear makeup or not rather than who I’m going out with. Lately I’ve been quite lazy and it takes a pretty fancy event to get me to put on makeup. Casual dinners out with friends or my husband might be reason to change out of super comfy clothes… or might not :).
yes. heh. i agree. it usually depends on what the purpose of the evening is. but i typically will dress for other women. heehee.
ah….. now that i think about it, i totally dress for other women.
I dress for both, and it usually does depend on the event. However, usually even though I dress up to go out with my boyfriend I dress up not so much to impress him but so that others don’t think my boyfriend is dating a slob. :oP We’ve been together for 4 years and he honestly doesn’t care whether I wear makeup or not. He would rather I didn’t have makeup on, and just go out in sweatpants.
I very rarely wear makeup, period. I’m just not comfortable in it, and I don’t like the idea of having to paint my face up just to impress someone…never have. If I “dress up”, I’ll wear light eyeshadow and mascara, but that’s IT. And again, that’s rare.
Saves me a lot of money, that’s for sure! 
Plus, Andrew hates when women are all made up…says they look fake…so it’s a win/win there. 
I think women may dress for each other because they may have the desire to be the prettiest/most noticeable/beautiful/gorgeous/etc. woman out of their group of friends. With men, there’s nothing to compete with!
It depends where I’m going or what event I’m going to. It doesn’t matter who I’m with. Most of the time I don’t wear any.
The only reason I wear makeup in public is so that I actually look my age. Without makeup, people constantly mistake me for a high schooler. It’s dumb, but I started using makeup because I wanted to look more mature and more polished. I use very little though, so it’s not a completely different look. My boyfriend would rather I not wear makeup at all (I wore none when we started dating 4 years ago), but he understands that it’s kind of a necessity.
I do both! But then again there are times I don’t dress up at all with both. I think it depends on who I’m seeing, who I’m going with, and who might be there. I think that determines everything. LOL
yes, i feel pressured to dress up, too when all my friends are dressed up. I don’t want to be left out. =)
