First Dance

October 30th, 2006 @ 2:59 pm by Mrs. Bird of Paradise

I need your help picking a first dance song! Mr. BOP and I love music in general but don’t necessarily have “our song.” We do, though, want to stick to the classics. We’ve thought of “The Way You Look Tonight” by Frank Sinatra and “Unforgettable” by Natalie Cole and her father, but we’re not sure if either of those are it. If it helps, the mother/son/father/daughter dance will be to “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong. And I think our last song of the night will be Natalie Cole’s “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love).”

We could really use your help, so please leave your suggestions in the comment section. :)

i think i tunes has wedding collections, too, that might get you thinking — if you find a song you like you can then scout around for different versions, etc.

My personal favorite is “For Always” by Josh Groban and Lara Fabian. It’s absolutely beautiful and heartwarming. I love Josh and I’d never heard of this piece, but when I heard it, I knew that it was the right song for a first dance.

We danced to the BB King/Eric Claption version of Come Rain or Come Shine. I was looking for something different that wasn’t overused and also a song that had meaning. The minute I heard it, I knew it was the song for us.

how about “they can’t take that away from me” or do you want something slower and more romantic?

We danced to “Way you look tonight” but by Steve Tyrell…. It was great because it’s faster and easier to dance to, and has a nice dramatic intro….. we cut it short but i was thinking you could use it as background music to the grand entrance…
