About Mrs. Butterfly

I’m overwhelmed.

Work has been incredibly stressful lately. I really have to finish several projects before I leave for the wedding/honeymoon vacation. I also have a ton of school things to do, including studying for a final, writing a paper, and trying to participate in my group project while I’m on my honeymoon. Add the two things to my hectic schedule and every little thing I have to do for wedding planning, I’m surprised that I’ve gotten this far without having a breakdown.

That all changed on Sunday night. As I was getting ready to go into work (yes, on a Sunday) to finish up a few things, I realized that I just had so much to do on my plate. I got incredibly emotional and upset at nothing, and tears started to leak out of my eyes. Enter Mr. Butterfly (my hero), who catered to my every whim and just said, “give me everything you need to do for the wedding, and I’ll do it.” Which just made me cry harder.

He even offered to come into work with me for several hours, because I hate sitting in this big office suite alone during the weekends.

I ended up only picking up a few things from work because we wanted to go out and eat dinner. Afterwards, we even updated our wedding and household budgets, which really made me think of our future together. :)

What little things does he do to save you from a meltdown?

Miss. Orange

Mr Orange makes me breakfast & lunch — he knows exactly the way I love my oatmeal and my bologne sandwich.

Aww! That’s so sweet. I know how you feel - I am trying to juggle work, grad school, marathon training and wedding planning.

I’m also working/going to school/planning a wedding at the same time, so I understand the stress and sometimes you just feel overwhelmed. You certainly need a supportive partner to get you through

He does this funny thing-he’ll give me a big pat on the back and say “there, there” It’s a joke between us. A while ago, I broke down in front of him for the first time and he freaked and just stood there frozen. So, after I had my cry, I told him that the next time I freak out, he should give me a reassuring pat on the back and say “there, there” So, now he does

okay. this may sound silly. but he lets me hug him for as long as i want. not that i hug him for like hours or anything. maybe a few minutes. but i’ve found that just having a minute where he’s holding me and me holding him and just enjoying the calmness of the hug just soothes me and gives me the moment to refocus.
