Milk At Reception

October 30th, 2006 @ 10:24 am by Mrs. Blueberry

I got this idea the other day, inspired by Miss Strawberry’s post on bottled milk. It ocurred to me that what goes better w/ cake or cookies or chocolate than milk? Nothing! So then wouldn’t it be cute to have personal-sized milk cartons available at the bar (alongside the soda and wine and beer)? I figure we’d have skim and 2% (my and Mr. Blueberry’s favorite varieties, respectively) and maybe chocolate, too.

Something like this would be adorable:

But realistically speaking, glass bottles are out of our price range.

So what about the kind that we all had in our elementary school lunches? The kind that this little girl is having so much fun with:

Isn’t she adorable? Lol but anyway…what do you think? Milk at the reception: fun touch that is great for the dessert buffet, or unnecessary?

cute idea, but honestly.. if i am drinking alcohol at a function, the thought of adding milk to the mix doesn’t seem too ideal..

milk goes well with sugary stuff, the people who aren’t drinking alcohol might like it.

I think this is a good idea. Especially for friends that you invite who has kids could enjoy their milk at the reception. It’s healthy rather than having them drinking soda.

I think that is fun and cute and would definitely drink milk with my cake. I would suggest keeping it on ice, because warm milk is yucky!

I definitely think you should have some to go with all your desserts!! One thing I might suggest though, is that since you won’t be giving the milk out as favors (right?), there’s no need to go with individual serving sizes at all, is there? The little glass bottles are so cute, but I think I would probably prefer a regular glass to drinking out of a carton. So maybe you could just have several gallons of regular bulk containers available for the bartenders to serve, and ask for some sort of fancy-shaped glass to be the glass all the milk is served in? If it is served in a distinctive looking glass, I still think it would be cute and special, and most importantly, everyone would have some milk to wash down their chocolate with. Yum!!

Does any one have experience ordering two different albums off of my publisher in the same transaction? I want to take advantage of the discount that ends on November 5th but I cannot seem to pull both albums up in one transaction!
Thanks!

I think it’s a great idea. I don’t drink alcohol, and I’d love to have another option besides soda or water. Are you serving coffee and tea, also? But even if you are, nothing’s better with chocolate cake than nice, cold milk. And if you have kids or pregnant women at the reception I’m sure they’d appreciate milk. Well, the kids’ parents will appreciate the milk, I’m sure the kids would rather have soda or juice! :D

Super cute idea! I would love that! My idea, in reference to Miss Bluebell’s post. It would be more economical to not have cartons and I’d rather have a glass of milk too! What about finding some old fashion milk bottles (the large ones) and serving the milk out of that.

Just a thought… some people (vegans, lactose intolerant folk) prefer soymilk. But I’m all for the idea!

Plain soymilk is a good idea too. I think milk is a must when you have so many sweets :-) Great idea!

that’s a great idea! maybe you can personalize the milk cartons with little tags attached to them with your monogram!

i think its a great idea but maybe not order as much since most of the adults will be consuming alcohol.

since you have bartenders to serve it [and keep it on ice] i don’t see why not? milk would be perfect for your dessert buffet.

I like the cake better with milk but they didn’t serve milk at any wedding i had been to. I’m allergic to alcohol so I love the idea of having milk at the wedding. Kids love milk too, it good for the picture (mustache)…heheheh..
