About Mrs. Lemon

Sniffle, Cough, Cough

October 31st, 2006 @ 1:31 pm by Mrs. Lemon

The seasons have barely changed and I’m getting close to finishing my first cold of the winter months. It wiped out my plans for Halloween completely, as Mr. Lemon just called to tell me he’s sick today and therefore my outing to his company Halloween party is a no-go. I can’t be too mad, as he comforted me this weekend with movies, chicken soup and lots of hugs. I’m heading over to comfort him this afternoon with orange juice and popsicles and pretzels…and hopefully we’ll both be better by the weekend.

I’ve always been a big believer in finding someone who cares for you when you’re down and out, and unfortunately, my guy has already been tested quite rigorously and keeps flying with higher and higher colors. But my big requisite: HUGS. And sorbet/gelatto. You just can’t go wrong there. *sniffle*

How does your significant other comfort you when you’re sick?

Even though I couldn’t taste it, FI brought me a frozen pizza to cook for me last time I was sick. He lets me nap on the couch (and is silent–trust me, a big deal when it’s the only room with a TV) and will heat up blankets or my sweatshirt so they are cozy warm when I’m sick! THAT’s why we love ‘em…

I’ve (unfortunately) been sick most of the time we’ve dated, there’s been a horrific allergy to the sun causing blisters, another blistery allergy to Aleve, and countless asthma attacks and flus. My honey takes the days off, goes to get me whatever I feel like eating (for example, one day I wanted in n out fries, double stuf oreos and noodles from the Chinese place 20 mins. away). then he gets me magazines and puts my favortite tv shows on. He luvs me mucho.

Mr. Orange either goes home to get FMIL’s homemade chicken soup or go to Jay & Lloyd’s (on Avenue U and E 27th Street in Brooklyn) for their matzo ball soup. :)

He lets me pick any movie I want to watch. And plugs my heat pad in behind my couch.

I’m chronically ill, so this is a big deal to me. He holds me and strokes my hair when I’m in pain. He gets me whatever I need, he soothes me when I’m ill, and he literally supports me when I’m weak and can hardly walk. He does whatever is necessary. He is the absolute best.

feel better soon, miss lemon! it’s getting quite chilly in our neck of the woods. well for us, anyway.

i have been blessed with good health and rarely get sick. when i do, though, FH makes sure i get plenty of rest, buys me my favorite liquids, and cooks for me as best he can. he also makes our favorite hot water/lemon/honey combo.

he has also driven 50 miles in rush hour traffic on a weeknight to come take care of me after i got a wisdom tooth out.

Once while I was away at college, he drove 100 miles to bring me medicine and comfort me because I was too sick to get out of bed.

Nowadays he makes sure I get plenty of rest, vitamins and tea. He always voluntarily heads out to the drugstore if I ever need medicine of any sort. He even went out and got me Pamprin at 12am when I was having cramps (without my requesting him to), and we don’t even live together!

Being sick is the best way to find out if he really is the one.
My FI usually gets me my favorite food and lot’s of juice and just takes care of me.

I actually realised that he was The One when I had a horrible stomach flu. Four days of throwing up day and night, fever, feeling too weak to shower, dehydrated and all - he not only took care of me 24/7 - he also looked at me when I was at my worst and said ‘You are so beautiful’ - and I knew he meant it. Only a really special person would do that for you.
