I was just reading our new Reader’s Digest in…well…the place where everyone reads Reader’s Digest (c’mon, it can’t just be a coincidence how neatly it fits on the back of the toilet!) and stumbled across this little gem:
(in an article on The Joy of Cooking):
“Recipe testers used 485 pounds of red meat and 3,000 eggs to guarantee that each recipe was worthy of inclusion.”
Don’t they make it sound like each recipe calls for 485 lb of red meat and 3,000 eggs? hehehe
Anyway, it did get me thinking about cookbooks in general. Last Christmas I received this:

Even though we’re not married yet, I use it all the time–it’s a great cookbook, and would make an excellent shower gift.
It contains not only recipes, but general tips on cooking and entertaining…even things like “semi-homemade” recipes, throwing a party on a budget, theme dinners, etc.
But at the same time it makes me a little bit sad, because I think cookbooks may be headed on their way out…there are so many great recipe sites on the Internet now that oftentimes it’s just easier to look for things that way rather than thumbing through the pages of a book.
Do you still use a cookbook? Which one(s) is/are your favorite?

For those that don’t know me personally, one of the many nicknames I have is Frodo. Mainly because I am vertically challenged (5′2″).
Anyway I found a picture online that’s similar to my wedding band:

Two eternity bands in white gold with a total of 1 carats in diamonds all stacked together. It is thin enough to beautifully complement my delicate engagement ring. I wanted to go with platinum but the jeweler suggested I set it in white gold because platinum would’ve been too soft. What an honest jeweler! A great big thanks to my girl, Jenny and her “Korean” skills because she got us a great deal on the wedding bands.
That is how I am feeling right now. I LOVE this pink dress. But unfortunately, I think it is a little too fitted to be the bridesmaid dress.

Here’s a pic of my e-ring and the matching band:

Mr. Sunflower plans on getting two of the bands for me to wear on either side of the ring - my mom has something very similar and he likes the look… as do I.
I’ve been looking for some ideas for Mr. Sunflower’s wedding bands - I say bands because I’d like him to have something plain to wear everyday to work, as well as a dressier band for special / family / evening outtings. Here are some ideas:
Mrs. Bee here.
For the first 10 months of our relationship, Mr. Bee and I were long distance so our main mode of communication was the phone. One time we even talked a record 10 hours straight.
But since Mr. Bee and I moved in together, we hardly ever talk on the phone. We’re both online 24/7 so our main mode of communication is im. We’ve even been known to im each other when we’re in the same room. We’ll also send emails and text messages quite regularly, but we rarely talk on the phone. Since we met through my blog, I guess we’re just an internet obsessed couple.
How do you and your fiance stay in touch day to day? Phone? IM? Text messages? Email?
I’m overwhelmed.
Work has been incredibly stressful lately. I really have to finish several projects before I leave for the wedding/honeymoon vacation. I also have a ton of school things to do, including studying for a final, writing a paper, and trying to participate in my group project while I’m on my honeymoon. Add the two things to my hectic schedule and every little thing I have to do for wedding planning, I’m surprised that I’ve gotten this far without having a breakdown.
That all changed on Sunday night. As I was getting ready to go into work (yes, on a Sunday) to finish up a few things, I realized that I just had so much to do on my plate. I got incredibly emotional and upset at nothing, and tears started to leak out of my eyes. Enter Mr. Butterfly (my hero), who catered to my every whim and just said, “give me everything you need to do for the wedding, and I’ll do it.” Which just made me cry harder.
He even offered to come into work with me for several hours, because I hate sitting in this big office suite alone during the weekends.
I ended up only picking up a few things from work because we wanted to go out and eat dinner. Afterwards, we even updated our wedding and household budgets, which really made me think of our future together.
What little things does he do to save you from a meltdown?
Yet another great find from Wonderful Graffiti!

These suckers are just too cute for words. They would make a great favor for wedding guests alone or as a part of larger candy buffet. The sweet treats come in pink, green, yellow, blue, orange and purple. They even come with little tags that say “sucker for love”. I just might have to snatch a few of these up!
I need your help picking a first dance song! Mr. BOP and I love music in general but don’t necessarily have “our song.” We do, though, want to stick to the classics. We’ve thought of “The Way You Look Tonight” by Frank Sinatra and “Unforgettable” by Natalie Cole and her father, but we’re not sure if either of those are it. If it helps, the mother/son/father/daughter dance will be to “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong. And I think our last song of the night will be Natalie Cole’s “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love).”
We could really use your help, so please leave your suggestions in the comment section. ![]()
