Because I always knew I would be getting married at my family’s summer house where generations of us have been married before, I got to skip the whole “where to get married” question. But now that I’m talking to more brides and reading more wedding sites, I’m seeing that the “where” is actually the first real big hurdle for most brides! Not only do you have to choose a venue, but most couples are having to start off picking a country, then a state (if it’s in the US), then a specific area, before they can even start thinking about venues. With so many international couples these days, plus people moving across country for college or jobs, it seems that the average couple has a wide variety of potential wedding locations.
How did you decide where you are going to get married? What weighed heaviest on your mind in that decision?
Traditionally, the hometown of the bride was the default location, but now perhaps her parents have moved, or all her friends are in her college town, or she wants to have it where she lives now, or perhaps the groom feels more strongly about a given location, or they ditch all of that and choose to have a destination wedding!
Please let us know how you came to your decision!
Our color scheme evolved long ago in conversations with my Maid of Honor sometime in singlehood before Mr. Lemon arrived. It went something like, “Dude! When I get married, I’m totally going to have a blue and gold wedding! Or… you can have a blue wedding and I’ll have a gold one and we’ll match!”
Fast forward to post-proposal conversations about color, where I suggested a citrus combination of our favorite colors of yellow and orange, and Mr. Lemon exclaimed, “But I always thought it was going to be blue and gold?” In order to assure that I wasn’t breaking any crazy color rules, I went searching for the color forecasts for Summer 2007 from Fashiontrendsetter.com. And low and behold…it not only works, but it’s perfect for the season!

It’s come in very handy so far, especially when picking out blue items, and hopefully with 9 choices I can make everything stick to it!

Hi. My soon to be husband and I have talked about our wedding ceremony since I am from New York and he is from Portland. We’re juggling the idea of two weddings in order to include family members that cannot afford to fly or don’t have the time to fly to the opposite side of the states to celebrate with us. Do you know of anyone that has had this type of situation? Any advice is appreciated!

There’s something about the vintage look that inspires me. Between Mr. Violet and I, we have very different ideas of what a home should look like. He’s more into the monochromatic look and clean lines. He favors neutral colors, stainless steel and hardwood floors. I, on the other hand, would love to cover my home with elements of vintage. I want my home to excude coziness and warmth.

Many brides are concerned with creating the “perfect day” down to the very last detail. Some call it being a perfectionist. Others call it anal retentive. Or crazy. What category does monogrammed toilet paper fall into? Ahh, yes, that’s right…crazy. Crazy is the new cute.

Just out of curiousity…for those of you who are already registered, how many stores are you registered at? One, two, three, four+. Four+ sounds like a lot, but I’ve been getting different kinds of input from everyone.

I am going back to Arizona for the week of Thanksgiving to a) see my family and b) do wedding errands galore. One of the items on my wedding list is a hair trial. I want to wear one of three things in my hair: a sparkly comb, a fake flower, or a real flower. It seemed to me that I should have at least one of these items for the trial so I finally bought a gorgeous swarovski crystal hair comb at Sposabella Lace. Their selection is amazing and many of the combs and tiaras (like mine!) are one of a kind. Their combs range in price from about $50 to $175, while their tiaras seem to average around $200. Here is a picture of the one I bought. Sadly, my little digital camera does not take close-ups very well, so the photography just does not do this little comb justice!

Ok….I can barely contain myself as I write this. My photographer is freaking AWESOME. We took the pics last Monday afternoon, and he had them uploaded to pictage on Thursday night. I chose several shots that I wanted to post, and he customized the toning and processed them today! Isn’t he amazing??
Most of the pics are in black and white, since those are the ones I will be using for the table cards. But all of them can be turned into color.
Here is an idea of what my table cards would look like. They will have a champagne backing, not orange, and the image will be a bit darker and clearer. But you get the gist….

So of the pictures below, which three do you think I should choose?

And here are a few color photos, just for fun!

From previous Weddingbee posts, I noticed most Weddingbee readers are also pet lovers! I came across this website the other day and thought it would be super duper adorable for MOH / M2B / FLG gifts! This website also has yummy scented truffle soaps.
La Maltese - look at the pink hair bows!

Our friends got married this weekend here is Washington, DC and I thought I would pass on a couple of pictures…
One of the flower girls at the rehearsal dinner getting her gift for being in the wedding - the bride had these handmade and then filled them with goodies to keep the 7 flower girls busy!
Mr. Peach finally got around to converting the pictures to jpeg files. Please note that these are not touched up at all but I figure I’d just post them anyways. Here are a few our favorites… (Mr. Peach convinced me not to blur out my face this time.)
Oh yeah, one other thing… remember how I was excited about the foliage in Central Park? Ummmm shyeahhhh, when we took pictures last weekend the leaves in the park were still mostly green. Puhahaha. Oh well. ^_^ Ooo and thank you again for everyone’s lovely advice for my outfit. Did I do a good job?? I lost the cuffs on my jeans and wore a colorful top underneath my jacket.

I got this idea the other day, inspired by Miss Strawberry’s post on bottled milk. It ocurred to me that what goes better w/ cake or cookies or chocolate than milk? Nothing! So then wouldn’t it be cute to have personal-sized milk cartons available at the bar (alongside the soda and wine and beer)? I figure we’d have skim and 2% (my and Mr. Blueberry’s favorite varieties, respectively) and maybe chocolate, too.
Something like this would be adorable:

I’m completely and utterly obsessed with my new last name. If I see anything with an “H” on it, I have to get it. Hence my monogram stash. I think I need to pick just one or two so that everything is a bit more cohesive. So here’s a little Monday morning survey for you…
Fall is my favorite season. Perhaps it’s the rustling of fallen leaves - letting us know that it’s time to start over again, a fresh new beginning. Perhaps it’s just the delight of layering on cute skirts, sweaters and boots. Or perhaps it’s always around this time of the year, that I truly feel inspired. Whatever it is, fall is my favorite season. For those that are having Autumn weddings, I think it would really be nice to incorporate elements that remind us of this changing season.
