Choos or Lose

November 1st, 2006 @ 2:25 pm by Mrs. Daisy

Choosing a wedding shoe was quite an agonizing process for Mr. Daisy me. Mr. Daisy and I went up and down Madison Avenue in search of the “perfect” shoe and (really!) only found two contenders when all was said and done.

Christian Louboutin was a bust, much to my chagrin (I do love me some red soles!) since they “weren’t doing ivory this season” in lieu of champagne, which was too dark for my fair gown. Because how cute are these?

Giuseppe Zanotti had some fun sparkly concoctions but nothing that struck me as “wedding.”

Manolo Blahnik (an altar at which I have sacrificed many a paycheck) wasn’t doing anything for me.

Vera Wang (shockingly) had only two pairs available in ivory and neither was even a little cute.

But then Jimmy Choo to the rescue!! We walked in and, with the help of our salesman Roberto, I found the Emma:

and the Sicily:

Both of which I *loved*! In the end, I loved the Sicily just a *bit* more, since the heel was slightly lower (3.5″ rather than 4″) and it’s closed toe, which seemed better for November. So now the shoes live in my closet, making occasional outings to my fittings and just so I can gaze at their awesomeness. Plus, they’re dyeable, so after the wedding I can have some fun with them.

Here they are in purple:

So cute!

The ivory that they come in match my dress to a t, and I think they’ll look so gorgeous in a “shoe photo” that I am absolutely having my photographer take. What are your thoughts on the shoe photo? fun or lame? I am kind of loving the idea of it, but can see how someone would think it’s just dumber than a box of hammers.

So? Do you love your shoes enough to take their portrait?

Those shoes are beautiful! I don’t love my shoes enough to do a shoe photo, but I hate feet…so I don’t want a photo of them anyways. Lol.

I am sooo loving your shoes! I just bought two pairs of shoes today to try with my dress in AZ (this means I now have SIX pairs) — can you say crazy? Anyway, back to your shoes, they are gorgeous and you should make them happy and take their picture!

having an ivory dress has been quite the problem for finding shoes for me too. I swear I have spent more time looking for shoes to go with my dress then I did finding the dress!
Everyone has pure white, but ivory shoes, no-o.

Congratulations on finding the right ones for you.

I love the Emmas! I didn’t see them on Jimmy Choo’s site though. How much do they run?

I love the Emmas too! The other ones are a better fit for November, though- you’re right. And can I say, last night I said this girl on tv was uglier than a bag of hammers, and my FI was like, what? Yeah, I got confused. Anyway, LOVE the shoes. That purple color is wicked, too!

I agonized over my wedding shoes also. I ended up going with the Jasmine from Jimmy Choo (I had a spring wedding so the strappy shoes were a must). I am currently contemplating on dyeing it also, but they look so gorgeous in their original ivory that I can’t decide.

A — the Emmas are on the far right of the first row of this page:
http://www.jimmychoo.com/pws/ProductCategoryAttributeLink.ice?layout=collectionsprod.layout&paId=SEASON&value=003&resetFilters=true
(another way to get there is to go to the menu bar “The Collection” and choose “Bridal” off the drop down menu)

as for price, they are about $520.

Miss Lily, i so respect your indecision. i’ve only *just* just decided how i’m doing my hair and the wedding is just over 1 week away!

i had the hardest time finding ivory shoes too!! i didn’t want them to be the dyeable material and i wanted them to be satin, but i didn’t want to spend too much. i ended up getting the knot satin d’orsays from j. crew and they’re perfect!

My shoes have their own page in our album. My photographer couldn’t understand why I kept wanting pictures of them…

We took a portrait of my Vera Wang shoes, but they turned out to be Satan. After preparations and pre-ceremony photos, my feet were all swollen and killing me. I ended up wearing Rocket Dogs down the aisle and the rest of the night!

But at least the evil Vera Wangs looked nice in pictures….

Love your shoes! I had a super hard time with the ivory, too. My requirement was bling, though. I wanted sparkly shoes. :-) I was thinking of getting the Stuart Weitzman Volts, but then I found a cute pair of Alfani strappy slingbacks :-) The color is “cashmere” though, so it’s *slightly* darker than my dress. Even I can barely tell, though.

And if you love your shoes, you should definitely do the honor of allowing them their own special photo session :-)

For winter wedding, I am huge on the peep-toe look. Nine West even makes flat peep-toes and they are under $50.

I too ended up with Jimmy Choo, Peep toe, 3.5inch heel called Polite in RED SATIN with hand-laid crystals! I am more excited about them than I am the dress. I can’t wait to see them popping out of the bottom of my white white dress!
Enjoy those Ivory shoes, so comfy- sexy- stylish.

Oooh, those are so beautiful!!! Perfect choice!

YES to shoe photos! Mine are from Claudia Ciuti- a peep toe, d’orsay in soft taupey gold, with a jeweled brooch. They were half off, whee! and since they were too high, I had the heel trimmed down a bit and non-skid rubber sole put on the bottoms by a reputable shoe repair shop. Can’t wait to wear and love them forever.
