About Mrs. Blueberry

Kitter Witters

November 2nd, 2006 @ 4:31 pm by Mrs. Blueberry

Update: I talked to my parents and they agreed to a trial run of bringing the cats to KC. So when we go down there this weekend they’ll be coming with us and then staying in my parents’ basement. They have a big ol’ house with a finished basement, and a door to separate the basement from the house’s lower level. So the cats will have the run of the computer room, TV room, basement bathroom and second kitchen for the duration of our two-day stay. If this goes well, they may get to stay with us when we go to KC for the wedding. If it doesn’t, well, at least we’ll know. Wish us luck.

~~~
You already met Maxie, now meet two of my other furbabies:
Othello:
And Macbeth:
They live with Mr. Blueberry and me here in our college town, and we’re not quite sure what to do with them during the wedding. They can’t stay with Mr. Blueberry’s parents since they have a non cat-friendly-dog, and it wouldn’t really work for them to stay with mine since they also have a dog (Maxie), plus another cat. We can’t just leave them here and have someone stop by occasionally, since that’s not fair to them, plus most of our friends will be down in KC for the wedding.
So I guess they’ll have to go in a kennel until we get back from our minimoon. smiley2.gif That just breaks my heart. Macbeth especially is just such a tender, sensitive baby that I don’t think he’d be happy at all living in a little cake. Othello is an attention whore and would love Charles Manson if he came in the front door and patted him on the head, so I don’t think he’ll mind the kennel.
What are you doing with your pets during your wedding/honeymoon?
Luckily, our wedding is in the neighborhood, and my dog loves my dad. So after the wedding, he’s going home with Grandpa! He’ll be spoiled and shown off to random people, but if that makes grandpa (and Woofie) happy, so be it! Of course, I’ll call every day from the honeymoon!
we’re lucky, either my SIL or sister will be dog sitting for us at our apt! i know how you feel.. i actually looked into kennels too, but i’d much rather have her at home where she’s most comfortable.
i’d leave my dog at my parents, but my mom is afraid of dogs.. =T
we have a cat too and rather than sending them to kennels, we got a cat sitter to come for 20-30 minutes a day while we were on our honeymoon. it was much easier on the kitty because she doesn’t like to be away from home! i think the catsitter is probably similarly priced to a kennel, so its definitely an option to keep in mind…
I’m having a wedding in MD (my FI and I reside in Chicago), and we’re flying our 2 cats to my parent’s house in MD as we plan for the wedding and go on our honeymoon. My sis has cats as well, and we’re just hoping that they get along!
I can’t WAIT to get a puppy, but I’m waiting until after we get married so that I don’t have to find a place to put a puppy during it all. While I can’t wait to marry my fiance because I love him so much, I REALLY can’t wait to get a dog! He he.
Your babies are adorable! I actually cat-sat for a friend for about a week this summer and while the cat was reluctant to come to me at first, she was comfortable because she was in her own house versus some strange place. Eventually she opened up hung out with me on the couch etc. but if I had a kitty and had to go out of town, I would definately ask a friend to come over or hire a cat-sitter.
Awww!! I love kitties. We have two furbabies of our own. I think we’ll probably leave them with a friend since our wedding is in the same county we live in. You can have a friend come over….someone who can’t make it to the wedding and take care of your babies. :)
oh, i am dreading leaving our fuzzy furball kitties. thankfully they will be going to grandma & grandpas house (they live 10 minutes away) but i dread the separation anxiety i will have when we pack cliff & claire up :(
We’ll most likely hire a catsitter to come by while we’re gone, or ask a friend who’s not coming to the wedding.
My cat is 21 years old and is actually having minor surgery today. I am shocked she does as well as she does, considering I’ve had her since I was five! :O)
FI and I want a pet SO BAD but can’t in our rental (and probably don’t need the mess/responsibility right now). Cute kiddies–I mean, kitties!
I think my sister is going to watch our puppy - which is good, because he sleeps in the bed with us and I can’t imagine him being in a kennel all week long! He’d sink into doggie depression!
we aren’t sure what to do with my kitty yet, but we still have time to figure it out. i’d much rather she stay with a friend or relative, though i know it won’t be with my parents since my dad is allergic.
There are some photos on my site.
if i am going to b away for less than a week i leave the babies at home. the last time i bought extra litterboxes and set them up throughout the house. even though there is no one to play with them, i think they would like it better in a familiar environment with each other for company rather than in a kennel where they are in unfamilier surrounding, locked in a small cage and have to deal with strangers (animal and people alike)
