About Mrs. Hibiscus

Awesome Free Wedding Website

November 3rd, 2006 @ 4:14 pm by Mrs. Hibiscus

Although I ended up paying for a wedding website, Wedding Announcer has many of the features of other wedding websites you have to pay an arm and a leg for. You get your own domain, (http://brideandgroom’snames.weddingannouncer.com/), it’s simple to use, you have several different layouts to choose from and did I mention it’s free? It’s the best “free” website I’ve seen as far as features and aesthetics. I’ve recommended it to my friends who are also getting married and they’ve been really happy.

You can:
Inform guests about your wedding events
Include background info on how you met
Display Your Gift Registry Information
Share accomodations, restaurants & attractions
Include maps & driving directions
Personal guest book
Share wedding day pictures with your guests

Sound too good to be true? Well, it’s the real deal! Check it out!

Another good wedding website like that is WeddingChannel.com. That’s the one I signed up with, and you get those same features and it is also free!

We have a weddingannouncer site and I love it! It also lets you create your own page names which is great for people with multiple receptions/special circumstances like us, and they integrate so well into the list of ones they provide for you! (And you can delete any of the pages that come with it if you don’t want a “quizzes” section or whatever)

We have a Wedding Announcer page also, and it’s so easy and looks very nice. Everyone thinks I’m this webpage creating genius - HA!! I sure have them fooled. :)

Thank you for the suggestion! I hated out knot page it was lacking in so many areas and a pain to navigate when editing.

This weddingannouncer site is beautiful and easy to use and offers so much space for a variety of information and photos.

If you haven’t signed up yet, what are you waiting for?

(i should be their spokesperson i’m such a fan, lol)

I would suggest http://www.bridalfever.com which is a wedding network site that has over 30 unique designs for your free wedding website included. It’s the best free or paid wedding website I can across online so far.

mywedding.com has a great selection of free wedding websites that you can keep up forever! after seaching all over for one, i decided they have the best selection of page designs and features. they also offer a free local wedding planning guide with all of the vendors in your area. mywedding.com is not as cute as some of the wedding planning websites out there, but i think they have some of the best resources.

Bridal Fever is misrepresenting photographers by posting stock photos on profile pages not created by the photographer. Along with misrepresenting their work sometimes the contact information is not accurate.

They are forcing photographers to sign up for the site to override the stock image or edit their incorrect information and offer no ability for the photographer to remove their profile.

The administrators are also leaving negative ratings against photographers who complain about the policy. They are selectively editing any positive comments which support that photographer.

This company abuses public information under the guise of a non-profit and should not be trusted with your information.

This BridalFever site could be a good things for Brides to exchange info - Kind of a “My Space” For Brides

As to vendors however, especially wedding photographers…

BridalFever admin is rude and condescending. bridalfever will tell you they will not be intimidated when approached by wedding photographers with requests to remove images and remove the listing. (even though they JUST put a disclaimer on the site but who reads disclaimers) and the PPA has been notified and will be sending an email as well.

Here’s the rub. Photographers.. to remove your listing on Bridal Fever - and you’ll want to when you see the cheesy stock images they have under your name…. YOU ARE FORCED to sign up on Bridal Fever http://www.bridalfever.com to change the stock image or edit their incorrect information. If you want to remove your page - you have to register with bridalfever (which many people prefer not to do on the internet due to spam), wait for an email, click on a link to get into your page, ask to be deleted, wait for an email and click on a link to remove yourself.

Worse - Brides beware. If a photographer in your area does register and does not put in their own photos - the disclaimer will be gone and you will think the stock images belong to them and they don’t. There is no telling if the images are real - from the photographer’s portfolio or if they are fake stock shots.

SharedWeddings

We recently launched another free wedding website called SharedWeddings. Like weddingannouncer, it allows couples to create their wedding website for free and has all of the features you get from the subscription sites. The website is extremely easy to use…..so no absolutely no web design skills required! Take a look at our gallery to see a selection of the wedding websites that our users have created.
