FG Dress Flying Solo to Japan?

November 3rd, 2006 @ 10:53 am by Mrs. Orange

(Ignore the background…. My room needs a major makeover)

FG Dress Flying Solo to Japan? : wedding dress family flower girl new york Fg fg.jpg

My niece is going to be the cutest flowergirl :). I was wondering whether I should send the dress to her in Japan. My sister (her mom) didn’t understand why I would do that - “But Miss Orange, the wedding is in NY, not in Japan.”

Planning a wedding while my entire family is abroad has been easy and hard. I don’t get much of their input which may be a blessing in disguise. But, when I have a bridal shower or a disagreement with Mr. Orange or his family, I feel extra homesick :(.

Anyone planning a wedding afar from your own family?

Cute dress Miss Orange!! Sometimes I’m a little TOO close to my family- and they have opinions on everything- like my garter! I can understand your homesickness, though.

my parents are in tx, and i’m here in ny. luckily for us, neither set of parents have been TOO insistent on anything with the wedding. i think my mom feels bad that she cant help more…but i just tell her that i appreciate her all the same.

mine is in italy while i am in chicago. it makes it terribly hard to even want to plan a wedding without my mom being there to see me try on my dress or my sister there to help out with the wedding (shes my MOH).

yes…i’m in northern california and my family is in southern california and georgia, and my wedding will be in hawaii. i miss having my sister close by (moh), but she’s sweet enough to come up and visit every few months (she’s on her way right now!) and give me the support i need when i need to vent or just some reassurance.

Wedding is in Colorado, I am in Philadelphia, fiancee is in NYC, maid of honor is in Paris, family is from all over…Ugh.
I shipped my maid of honor her dress in Paris because I wanted to be 100% sure everything fit and she was comfortable before she came beack home for the wedding. I am actually also shipping a lot of stuff out via UPS in a week or two to the locla UPS store. They will sign for and hold your packages indefinitely and then when you pick them up you pay a flat fee of $5 a box. This has been a god send, I had no idea how we would get, favors, OOT bags, place cards etc out there not to mention my dress, his suit and of course my skiis!

That is the cutest flowergirl dress ever! Where did you find it? Yes, I am planning from “afar”– but not as far as you. I am in NY and the folks are in Arizona. Telephone and e-mail keep us in constant (too constant?) contact though!

I am happy to see a number of brides to be selected their sisters to be MOH despite the distance. I choose my BFF Melanie to be my MOH — and she’s 4 hours away!

The flower girl dress is from an Alpine Texas vendor called Briar Patch (http://www.shopbriarpatch.com)

My FI is from the US, I am from Europe but we live in another european country which is a three hour flight away from our home. We are not yet sure if we are going to get married in the country we live in or in my homecountry.
My friends and family are all over the world anyway. Three of my five bridesmaids are not living in the same country I am living in. It would definitely be easier if we were just the same nationality living in our country of origin.
