The Unedited Version

November 4th, 2006 @ 11:34 am by Mrs. Apple

OK, so I still have about 6 months left until my wedding day and I’m already trying to envision what the day will be like. I’m seeing a timeline - the day begins at 5:30 in the morning and ends roughly around midnight, and all I can see is a big blur. I’ve been at plenty of weddings as a guest and I’ve also been a bridesmaid 3 times, so I’ve seen how this day can bring on such extreme highs and lows for the bride and groom.

We will have three ceremonies - a tea ceremony at my house, a prayer service at the hotel, a garden ceremony at 6pm and then on to our reception. Oh my, we will be so exhausted by noon! I’ve witnessed brides being rushed from one place to the next, her arms being pulled by her parents to greet guests at the dinner table, the photographer mentioning they need 5 more group shots asap, and the list goes on and on.

My question is how can my FI and I enjoy our most special day when we’re going to be pulled and tugged in every direction for 20 hours? How are we going to remember all of this?

I have a bad memory, I forget almost everything - I kind of forgot what day our anniversary falls on too! I just know it’s sometime in the end of March (good thing our wedding date will be on Memorial Weekend!) So, I’m seriously considering on renting out a videographer for the whole day or maybe ask a relative or friend to film us from the start to the end.

Here is a list of things I wish I could see:

- I want to see how I look in the morning with no makeup while drinking hot java.
- I want to see my FI’s nervous face and hear his comments on the wedding day.
- I want to hear my family/friends laughing and talking in the background.
- I want to see my nephews in there cute ringbearer outfits playing checkers in the garden.
- I want to remember my aunts’/uncles’ speeches during the tea ceremony.
- I want to see myself on camera when I become a bridezilla.
- I want to be on camera when I cry tears of either joy or frustation.
- I want that moment captured when my FI sees me in my wedding dress.

I want all of these moments captured without any breaks. Everytime I watch “Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?”, I think it must suck to have someone film you all of the time but now I’m beginning to think it maybe a good thing. Who cares if I’m on camera bawling my eyes out or yelling at my mom to stop nagging about how my boobies are falling out of my dress- it’s raw and real and I want mine compeletly unedited.

Anyone have plans on having a full day videographer or regret not having one at there wedding? Was it expensive?

I think it would be neat to see the whole day. You may want to look into having more than one person doing the videoing though. I’d ask a videographer if they have assistants, and I’d also ask friends and family.
Good luck!

Our photographer is with us the for 8 hours so that will cover most of our getting ready at the site and the wedding and reception. But I agree with Angie, friends can capture some of those moments at home and such.

I totally wish I could hear the conversations my fiance will have before we see each other at the alter, knowing him and his best man, it will just be a series of movie quotes. :P

I wanted a videographer for the ceremony and reception, so we have one from 2:30 through 11:00 p.m. that day. I know what I look like without makeup, and I expect I’ll be pretty stressed that day - so I don’t need video of that to remember forever! All I need is a nice pretty edited version of events. :)

I highly recommend a videographer…get a good one cause these moments are from a very special day that only happens once in your life. I was so glad my father-in-law and uncle-in-law made and edited our video. we got to see things that we almost never got to see…friends and families laughing, eating, talking, and enjoying your wedding that you’ve worked so hard to prepare. not only that, but how you and your FI looked throughout the wedding. yes, you will be super busy no matter what…but just take a moment every now and than and BREATHE. p.s…don’t forget to smile cause cameras are everywhere!
