Tweezerman Contest

November 4th, 2006 @ 2:37 pm by Contests

The Tweezerman Contest is officially over. We used a random number generator to determine the following winners. Congrats to: bluang3lbby, g, and h!

Thanks to everyone who entered - we’ll be back with a new contest Monday! :)

~~~
Mrs. Bee here.
I’ve owned the same pair of Tweezerman Slant Tweezers for many, many years. I use them to pluck my eyebrows, pluck my armpits 8O, apply false eyelashes - and they are hands down the best tweezers I’ve ever used.
So that’s why I’m very excited to announce that we have three Tweezerman Brow Grooming Solution Kits, valued at $50, to give away!
tweezerman1.jpg
tweezerman21.jpg
The Kit contains:
  • SlantŪ Tweezer
  • After Tweeze Soothing Cream
  • Spiral Brow Brush
  • Brow Powder Brush
  • Browmousse Brow Gel
  • Black roll up case
I’ve tried laser hair removal once during spa week (desperately want this for my underarms), threading (which I will definitely continue to do), and obviously plucking (check out Tweezerman’s tweezing tips here). I just may give waxing a whirl one day before we go on a vacation! :P So what does that have to do with the contest?
To enter the contest, simply leave a comment telling us how you deal with hair removal on your body - whether it’s plucking, waxing, sugaring, threading, bleaching, depilatories, electrolysis, laser hair removal - and where you use these methods. We’ll select 3 winners at random - you have until 11:59 pm this Friday to enter. All the weddingbees are eligible to enter as well.
Good luck everyone! :)
I’m a waxer/plucker/threader. Really depends on the area for me, I guess. :)
I pluck and wax. A normal waxing just doesn’t get up everything it’s supposed to sometimes.
I am desperately in need of these. My tweezers are so dull that I hate plucking and am staring to look like a gorilla!
I like to get waxed and tweeze to keep up in between and also to get the tough buggers!
I’ve done the whole laser hair removal thing, but after 6 sessions, it’s still not permanent…. still, it’s not as thick and more sparse, but not permanent … I’ve now moved to threading! Loving it!
I’m a shaver for my legs and arms, plucker for random stray hairs, a waxer for my eyebrown. And soon I will have my bikini area will have a new ‘do’ thanks to laser hair removal!!! I’m so excited!
I’ve been addicted to getting my eyebrows waxed since I was 14. I get it done about once a month and pluck religiously in between.
You need to be sure you have someone good though - I’ve gone to the same person since I started and wouldn’t you know, she was on vacation when I needed them done for an event. I went somewhere else and left crying because they screwed them up so horribly I had to let them fully grow back to fix it. They forgot to mention that the girl hadn’t waxed an eyebrow in 7 YEARS when they assigned her to me.
Eyebrows: wax or pluck
Lip: wax
Underarms: shave or pluck
Brazillian (TMI?): wax/pluck (some salons do a combo of both)
ohhh, i so need these! i currently pluck, wax and shave- depending on the area. mr. bop doesn’t know about the waxing- that’s my secret. once, i came *this* close to having laser hair removal but backed out when my friend broke out in adult acne where she had the laser done :0 i do wish i would have gone through with it, looking back. ah, to be armpit and bikini line hair free!
I’m a leg shaver, but a knee plucker for those lil baby hairs, mustache waxer, eyebrow pluck/waxer, armpit shaver and love tunnel waxer. hahaha that last one gets credit from my Dad. His sex talk was, “stay away from the love tunnel.” hahaha
anyways, it’s not just me, but my husband too. He gets Avon hair removered(back) and I pluck his unibrow! If he only knew about this post! I could sure use a new pair of tweezers! Especially since his unibrow gives em a good workout!
oh where do i begin…
i dont have hair on my legs, barely any at all actually -
but for the rest of the areas…
ive done electrolysis on my upper lip and armpit areas. it was working too until i left for the summer and stopped the treatment.
ive done cream hair removal, sally hansen and nair.
ive tweezed and plucked.
ive waxed and done nads - the “natural” wax.
shaving is a last resort for emergency maintenance purposes only! =)
shaving for legs/underarms, waxing for bikini area, tweezing for eyebrows and wherever else i find stray hairs.
i dont know if it’s just me but i used to have a huge obsessive thing with tweezing eyebrows whenever i got the chance and if i couldnt get that ONE stray hair i would try and try and try to the point where sometimes i’d break skin…THANK GOODNESS i broke that habit! :-D
I’m all about plucking!! I am fairly UNhairy so only my eyebrows need it. There is something very therapuetic about it, I think it feels good. I try to sit the fiancee down once every 2 weeks or so to neaten his eyebrows up, but he still complains that it pinches. Whatta Baby!
I’m an obsessive plucker… I have to pluck my stray eyebrows…everyday. I find it quite soothing. I epilade everything else… it kinda stings at first…but you don’t have to do it as often.
Shave underarm and legs almost everyday, thread eyebrows (maintain with tweezing), thread upper lip, and wax the rest.
All this money spent on getting rid of hair our body thinks we need! :)
back in middle school i used nair for my legs, and razor for my armpits.
in college i plucked it all w/ my trusted 98 cents slanted tweezer from kmart.
now i have limited times in the morning so i shave my legs & arms w/ razor.
w/ my brows, i always used tweezer most of the time, got them waxed ONCE, and once in a blue moon, i’ve tried to shave it. lol
done basically all of the above… but I mainly wax legs & underarms. I also have been going to a salon soley devoted to eyebrows called “The B Spot” in Chicago. Her philosophy is that tweezing is the only way to go. A little on the pricey side but Rashida B totally takes care of my bushy, bushy eyebrows.
LOVE TWEEZERMAN…My first pair were from my mom and now I even have my fiance using them…the same pair has lasted me through many embarassing memories and great looks in bathing suits!
I wax and tweeze my brows, which are famous for the fact that they are the PERFECT shape! I only trust tweezerman to keep them that way!
So funny that you started this contest because I have just been inspired by your recent posts to get my eyebrows under control. I have been plucking them for years and I always think they look symmetrical and even when I look in the mirror but then when I look at pictures of myself they look crooked and uneven…the shame! It is killing me to grow them out, but my plan is to get a clean slate to work with and then I’ll go and have them shaped and waxed. Hopefully then I can maintain the shape by plucking in between waxings. A Tweezerman set sure would help my cause!
Having a genetic predispostion for being hairy from a very early age, I’ve done it all. Wax, Nads, shave, pluck, depilitory, bleach, Epilady (does anyone else remember THAT tourture device?), threading, and finally laser hair removal. Laser hair removal is the best thing EVER. I’ve done my arm pits and bikini area. Though the hair isn’t completely gone, the difference from before and after makes it the best money I’ve ever spent (and it wasn’t cheap). The few hairs that are left grow back much slower and thinner. I plan on doing my legs some day. I don’t mind tweezing/shaping my eye brows because its sort of theraputic. For anyone who ever does laser hair removal, one word of advice - Emla cream. It is a topical numbing cream. Other wise getting your sensative areas zapped by laser is worst than all of the other hair removal methods combined.
i usually tweeze my brows, my husband’s brows, and my armpits too. occasionaly to get all the little hairs by old tweezer can’t get… i get my brows threaded. and finally i do wax “down there”. the first time i did it was right before the wedding… my husband was REALLY surprised the wedding nite!!! i totally recommend this before the big nite! :)
i like experimenting with products, so i’ve tried various creams and waxes, in addition to tweezing and shaving. the creams creeped me out because of the smell and the idea of applying chemicals to my skin to basically dissolve the hairs. tweezing is satisfying when i have the time, and shaving is a quick fix. i don’t like going to the salons so i try to be as self-sufficient as possible.
I desperately need these. I have VERY full eyebrows (Brooke Shields meets Andy Rooney) that require daily plucking (if I was so diligent).
I’m getting married on Friday (Nov 3) and had my brows waxed professionally yesterday. They look *fantastic* - the only thing is my skin reacted to the wax and now I have a bumpy red rash above my eyebrows. Yikes! I’m hoping it recedes significantly for my nuptials - in just 2 days.
But the moral of the story is - only plucking here on out for me!
Pick me please!! I am in desparate need for this super cute set.
I shave the legs & the pits… but occasionally I’ll start plucking away….although the position is rather quite cumbersome if plucking for a long time. I recently shared my secret of plucking the pit hairs to my new hubby after the honeymoon… & he was super grossed out! Nevertheless.. it is comforting to know that there are other girls out there doing the same thing.
I pluck pluck away at the brows… although I’m not super caterpillary or anything…I have the typical asian eyebrow. However, I do not want to overpluck & have to resort to penciling them in.. so I’ve been going to the threader… wonderful! She knows when I’ve been plucking at the wrong spots though. I love to pluck all the time…. there’s always hair growing everyday for me!
Thus please make my daily plucking more enjoyable by rewarding me with this new “plucking” Tweezerman set!!!
I’ve never shaved my legs before. My eyebrows are usually unruly and unkempt, except for the short period before and during my wedding, thanks to the famous Damone Roberts salon in Beverly Hills. And, finally, embarrassing but true — my hubby plucks my armpits for me! You are all sworn to secrecy. Now gimme my Tweezermans. Thanks.
I wax my eyebrows because Im terrible at tweezing When I was around 13 I tried plucking my eyebrows and I ended up pulling an entire chunk out and it never grew back so I have a missing piece on my left eyebrow I also shave and wax when I can
I get it waxed or threaded (always trying new places) every couple months (cause I’m quite lazy) and inbetween I pluck and pluck and pluck!!
As for body hair removal, I am very traditional - I shave! I am too chicken to trying waxing for anything other than my eyebrows.
I shave my legs and underarms since it is an easy fix and my skin react terribly to the creams. I usually wax my eyebrows a couple times a year but the last time I had it done the waxer went way too thin. So I’ve resorted to light plucking there waiting patiently for them to come back in and some of those stray underarm hairs that don’t want to be shaved off. But my tweezers are so dull from constantly trying to fix my bfs unibrow. It’s like a full-time job.
I’ve had electrolysis on my upper lip. I pluck my eyebrows. I used to get waxed a lot but don’t anymore, so I shave my legs and bikini. I also have a Braun epilady type device that I use on my underarms. It’s like waxing in that it pulls the hair from the root. I’ve seriously considered laser hair removal - but it’s expensive!
Are brides not in the NY area qualified for these tweezers? I read wedding bee every day to get ideas since I’m in MD. I wasn’t forturnate enough to inherit my Mom’s genes of light hair. But, thank goodness I’m not that bad. Well, I wax, tweeze and shave. I tweeze my eyebrows and above the lips. I tediously pluck my underarms b/c waxing doesn’t cover it. I wax bikini area. And, I wax and shave my legs. It’s a daunting task for me almost every week or few days. So, I’m always looking for good tools for such task.
I hope I get selected!!!
As far as body hair goes, I wax if I have time and I’ve planned ahead, but I usually end up shaving. My brows are an obsession. I get them done by my facialist who does a combination of plucking, waxing and trimming– and only she is allowed to touch them. Those are her rules, but I don’t question them!
i have extremely sensitive armpits, so i try not to shave them, and instead go for the plucking action. i enjoy plucking my (or anyone else’s) eyebrows as well, it’s relaxing! i’ve been recruited by several friends and family members to help maintain their brows as well ;)
i like threading for my eyebrows and upper lip, but haven’t found a place here….
i usually shave my legs and sometimes pluck the strays… and nair has this really good vanilla-scented bikini stuff that i use in the summer…
well.. the only thing i really do is wax my eyebrows. from the age of well.. birth to about 22 i had these funny eyebrows that looked like they ended in the middle. the hair was there, but it was so sparse it really didn’t look like there was anything. and then one day, a coworker introduced me to waxing. i was skeptical… but now.. i have eybrows! although i do pluck between sessions when i’m busy and don’t have time.
I’m jealous of light haired girls…
I usually tweeze hair on my face, unless I’ve let it go a long time and then I use home-waxing (microwavable wax).
Legs I will only shave, I’ve never had a desire to have them waxed after a friend was horribly burned on the side of her calf from too-hot wax. Plus I always thought it looked gross when my friends would grow their legs out to get waxed.
I laughed reading the comments from the girls who plucked their SO’s eyebrows. My fiance has some sort of “manly complex” about not letting me pluck his unibrow, but I finally got him to let me wax his eyebrows last weekend!! I think it looks so much better, but he was such a freakin’ baby about it. Guys just don’t know the pain we go through to look nice.
Unlike other fortunate women, my eyebrows had no shape. I seriously could not get myself to pluck them and make them look nice. I’d either remove too much or too little. So when I heard about threading, I went for it and loved the way my eyebrows came out. Unfortunately, I moved to Philadelphia where eyebrow threading is non-existent. So now I just get my eyebrows threaded when I go back to California and when I’m here, I just manage my eyebrows to keep them the way it looked when it was threaded. Everything else, I shave because I’m allergic to almost every hair removal product. :-)
Starting from the face down.
I’ve plucked and thread eyebrows and upperlip.
I epilator my underarms and wax my forearms.
I shave my bikini line and have done only once a brazilian wax. Hurt like nothing I’ve experienced before.
Wax my legs and if I am lazy epliator it baby or let it grow out like a wooly mammoth for weeks!
i pluck my eyebrows once a week for about 30-40 min..even some stray lashes. shave my underarms and legs and use Sally Hansen depilatory cream for the fuzzy hair above my lip. i considered getting the hair above my lip lasered at a local plastic surgeon’s office but he quoted me $300-400 for just one session. *sigh* i used to get my upper lip hair waxed but sally hansen works just as well and it’s a lot cheaper too.
Let me just say I’m hairy! Hairier than harier. It’s all my mommas fault. LOL I have to shave my legs everyday (OUCH!!!), and armpits, I have to shave my knuckles, wax my eyebrows, and bleach my WHOLE face. It’s not even funny. I would should you a picture of the side of my face right now I have a shadow and it’s not pretty.
For regular upkeep of my eyebrows, I pluck. But once a month, I get my eyebrows trimmed, plucked and shaped by this all-things-face-related lady at a Chinese salon. Waxing isn’t enough for my eyebrows b/c I’ve still got very long eyebrow hairs, and they still look dark and unruly. So she uses round nosehair scissors to give my eyebrows their very own haircut!
For the upper lip, I use Sally Hansen’s wax strips, the kind that you can warm between your hands - they’re quick and cheap.
For armpits and legs, it’s old-fashioned shaving.
For my wedding, I’m thinking of having my arms and back waxed. I’ve never had this done before - how far in advance can I get this done before the wedding, but not so far in advance that hair re-growth becomes visible?
I’ve definitely tried just about everything to get rid of stubborn hair. I’m allergic to the bleachs, Nair, some waxes…I haven’t found a way that doesn’t hurt, but the most effective thing I’ve tried has been laser hair removal.
I’ve always plucked my eyebrows myself, but I do get them professionally shaped once in a while. Last year I began waxing my legs rather than shaving and it still hurts, but it seems to be less time-consuming than shaving every single day (it grows so fast!)
I did start lasering though about 2 years ago. I started with my upper lip, then moved to several other areas including bikini line. It hurt so much when I first started because they didn’t have a topical anesthetic! Now they do, and it so easy! It still hurts a bit, but it is the best thing I’ve ever done! The first areas I had done are completely bare now, and the ones I’m still working on only took about 6 treatments. I do want to get my legs done, but the laser directly on bone (ie: shin) is like torture even with the anesthetic!
I get my eyebrows waxed, but because of my schedule I can’t always make it in to get the brow area spruced up when it needs it…
So, I am sad to say I use my one/one and a half inch long tweezers I that are a part of a Clinique eyebrow compact. They are quite dull and I often end up pinching the skin to get to the root of the hairs. I know, classy.
I pluck my eyebrows almost every day — it’s so satisfying to get every little hair out. My armpits are either plucked (by my BF haha!!) or shaved (emergencies only). I shave my legs once a week or so but I get lazy about it during the winter.
Damn! This must be a posting record at 100+. Tells you something about woman and body/face hair.
Guys have it way easier. They just shave there face in the morning and can let everything else get as hairy as its supposed to. What’s up with that??
Maybe the next post topic should be about our dude’s grooming rituals. Does he keep his undercarraige shorn?
i’ve NEVER shaved/plucked/waxed/threaded/depilatory-creamed/lasered my hairs off…except for my legs and underarms :D i haven’t ever tried to dye my hair either, not even the hair on my head! i bet that makes me ugly. oh well. it’s kind of a lot to have to deal with all the time. i inherited my father’s lovely hairy genes. if i win these tweezers, and if these tweezers are really as great as you say they are, i PROMISE i’ll start plucking my eyebrows! i’ll even send in before an after pictures. i wonder how i look like with nicely shaped brows? i’m freakin’ scared though. i hear it really hurts!! what method would ya’ll recommend for a first-timer?
legs: shave
eyebrows: wax when I can get appointment and pluck with tweezerman the rest of the time!
brazilian wax - - no other way to do it, once you have tried it.
I use a method that works pretty well…mix an egg white, a little teeny bit of milk, and corn flour, then let it dry on whereever you want the hair to be removed. It works very well on areas that have fine hairs.
First of all, my fiance made me respond to this contest. For the record, I don’t browse on wedding sites.
How do I deal with hair? My fiance plucks my unwanted unibrow for me with her Tweezerman tweezers. I also have the Tweezerman Deluxe Grooming Kit for MEN which includes nose hair trimmers
Nothing too crazy. I tweeze my eyebrows with Tweezerman of course and also need to give it a trim with scissors. (But I need that gel and other stuff in the kit…my hairs need to be tamed!) I bleach my mustache or Nair it. And I shave my armpits and legs. I rarely shave my legs though unless it’s a special occasion cuz I don’t get too hairy.
I was blessed with too much hair so I’ve tried it all! I divvied up the methods I’ve tried for each body part and my preferred method.
Face: waxing, thread, pluck = Pluck
Underarms: wax, pluck, electrolysis, laser hair removal, shave = Laser hair removal
Bikini: pluck, wax, laser hair removal = laser hair removal
Legs = nads (creams), shave = shave!
Whoa momma, so many comments! Hehe.. well I guess I will share what I do with my hairs too! I’m a little morbid and enjoy plucking the hair from my underarms with tweezers. I get satisfaction from watching the root of the hair come out from under the skin.. muah ha ha! I too get my eyebrows threaded but since my threading lady is a Bart ride away I sometimes get them waxed. I’ve never shaved my legs because the hairs are so fine and nearly invisible.
I’ve always been a tweezing/shaving kind of girl, depending on the body part. I’ve never heard of anyone tweezing their armpits, but it actually sounds like something I’m willing to try. I (freakishly) enjoy trying new methods of hair removal, but I always seem to go back to the traditional. I’m too much of a pansy to try waxing, though!
There are some funny posts-haha-love tunnel !!!
This contest couldn’t have come at a better time. I, too, have a psychotic obsession for plucking my brows. I have 5 different tweezers (but alas not the Tweezerman-yet!) In fact, I’ve plucked so much of my eyebrows that it’s just a thin line now. I’ve been known to walk around with scabs on my brows trying to get that last little piece of eyebrow hair. haha-crazy but it feels SOOO good when you get it!
I shave my underarms and legs-easy. I pluck my brows and what little upperlip hair I have. I don’t do anything to my binkini (I’m terrified of how much it’ll hurt) and that’s it. Pretty low maintenance.
It depends on the body area!
I use cream on my upper lip, pluck my eyebrows, and shave everywhere else. However, I normally can’t find my tweezers, so I end up “plucking” with my fingernails…including a renegade solo hair that tends to grow from my chin.
I recently lost my tweezers…though they weren’t Tweezerman, they were decent. I’ve never owned Tweezerman tweezers, because they’re just SO expensive.
I shave my legs regularly in the summer, but ease up in the cold seasons. I get my eyebrows threaded once a month, and tweeze in between visits. My underarms are my problem areas…my underarm hairs are thick and stubborn. Fortunately, I have a good friend who LOVES to tweeze. So whenever she gets a chance, she treats me to a *free* tweezing session. In her absence, however, I shave (unfortunately).
For my legs, I shave. I have to admit, I just don’t know if I could wax such a large surface area of my body. I bleach my mustache area, and I shave my armpits. For my brows, I pluck. Have had them waxed once.
I shave my legs about every other shower…so every couple of days….it grows back pretty quickly and i HATE being prickly!
I also shave my armpits…I LOVE my VENUS razor…I don’t know what I’d do without it!
For brows and upper lip I wax about every other month. I’ve tried threading, but it slightly freaked me out and I can’t find someone where I live now to do it anyways. In between waxes I keep them tidy by plucking :) I use my tweezers every morning before my shower…boy a set of the Tweezerman’s would be great!
i. pluck. EVERYTHING. i obsessively pluck and trim my eyebrows every night and i get constant comments of “your eyebrows are so perfectly shaped!” i’m proud to say that i never got them professionally shaped. i grew up with eyebrows that look like two very short, very straight, very bushy caterpillars on my face :O so im pretty proud of the shaping job i’ve done. i also pluck everything from armpit hairs (just like you, bee!) finger hairs, toe hairs… ewww.
but the kicker is how much i got my hubby into plucking… some days we work for hours plucking every hair of his moustache and beard. it’s such a satisfying feeling getting those thick hairs out of his face! even when he ends up with a puffy, bloody face… :O he just ices it and revels in the following days of not having to shave.
the kicker of the kicker is that my hubby has developed a really bad habit. even my mom noticed that when he’s alone, doing nothing, he tips his head up and makes a funny face to stretch out the skin on his neck… and starts feeling around on his neck. when he finds a stray hair, he starts picking at it with his fingertip… he does this for minutes at a time. he finally asks me to pluck it. this happens almost every day… and when i pluck the hair he sighs this HUGE sigh of relief.
i actually have a few funny stories… when i discovered nair as a teenager, i decided to nair off my ever-present, rather masculine sideburns. i loved the look of the bare face for a while until they started growing in again– stubbly!!! i was traumatized!!! another time, i discovered at-home face waxing kits. i used it on my lower cheeks, chin, and ’stache line. it hurt like a mother, so i put the “soothing oil” on afterwards and promptly broke out into hives all over my face that didn’t go away for a week. the hives made it look like i had the oh-so-coveted ’stache and beard that connected……..
i use different methods depending on the body part. for my brows i’ll tweeze them, also my armpits too…for my ’stache i’ll bleach it with good ol Sally Hansen lightening creme. for my legs, i’ll shave. for my stomach area & bikini area, i’ll use Nads. it works, except its messy and it takes too much time. i’ve never tried a wax, i heard i should definitely get a brazilian before the honeymoon to give the hubby a lil surprise.
Waxing - legs (usually DIY using Moom at home to save money, occasionally splurging at a salon) and occasionally brows (only done by professionals)
Otherwise, it’s me and my trusty tweezers for brows, underarms, bikini line, and any leg hair strays from waxing!
I’ve shaved, lasered, waxed and tweezed my underarms but I find tweezing most effective. Have made it a routine to do so every other day or so. Brows have always been tweezing as well. Legs, shave as mines grow pretty slow and barely noticeable. Face, bleach. Bikini, wax.
I shave my legs (when I feel like it) and underarms, wax and/or tweeze my eyebrows, and generally use a depliatory on my bikini area, though I sometimes go the full brazillian route and wax.
Best advice I ever got? Use roll-on deoderant over the bikini area after you shave/wax/depiliate and it will reduce irritation and ingrowns. Apparently, it’s an old stripper trick, and it works like a charm on my super-sensitive skin.
I’m a plucker when it comes to the eyebrows, and a razor shaving kind of girl for my legs and underarms. But I do have a box of NADS that I got on sale when I used to work for Walgreens that I’ve used a couple of times with success- but I had my husband to help me both times. He can pull the strip off faster so it doesn’t even hurt. I’m too scared to try actual wax though! YEOW!
I own a pair of tweezerman tweezers and they are the best investment I ever made concerning beauty products. I am pretty good at doing my own eyebrows but have to say having the slanted tweezers helps a lot.
For the rest of my body, I shave. I have tried everything from waxing (hot and cold) to hair removing gel, to me investing a LOT of money in an epilator which I used once, on half of my leg.
I have even tried different brands of razors, electric, vibrating, glowing at night, you name it, I tried it. After years of ingrown hairs and lot’s of pain I decided whats good enough for my FIs face will be good enough for the rest of my body and now I use a Mach 3 razor for my whole body. I also use zinc-baby-cream to prevent ingrown hair, that really works.
Of course I have to do it at least once a week but I do it while my conditioner soaks in, so it works out fine.
I swear by threading. There’s no recommended threaders in boston, so I usually wait til I go to NYC (once a month). In between i pluck. There’s nothing better than entering the salon with busy eyebrows and leaving 3 minutes later and $6 less with BEAUTIFULLY groomed eyebrows.
As for the rest of the body - wax and shave between waxings.
I’m generally a waxer/plucker. Wax the browsand bikini area, pluck brows for maintenance. I used to wax the my upper lip, but now use one of thoe “personal shavers” for women–works great and saves me a tone of money!
I find the combo attack works best for me… Shaving, plucking, waxing, and even Nad’s sugar waxing myself at home :0 ! Ahh the things women go through in the name of beauty….
I desperately need a good pair of tweezers! I’ve been searching all over and still haven’t found one that can do the job.
Wax and pluck: Brazilian
Pluck: eyebrows and FH’s chin hairs :)
Shave and sometimes Nair: legs, underarm
I feel the competition!
Anyhow, I wax my underarms and bikini at home. Sometimes, my bf helps me wax my private area (cookie point for that). I shave my legs during shower only!!!
My eyebrows are tricky. I wax them every three month and tweeze every week after taking a shower.
P.S. I noticed a dramatic different between shaving and waxing your underarms. Waxing helps prevent those hideous black dots when your hairs start growing out; it is also clean and last longer.
I do the conventional combination of plucking on the face and shaving everywhere else. My wonderful fiancee is rather unconventional and uses his leatherman on his face, which I find simultaneously disgusting and hilarious!
I usually pluck my eyebrows and sometimes my armpits and shave everywhere else. I pluck my armpits because that area’s kind of sensitive and sometimes I get bumps and it itches after I shave.
I’ve been wanting to try threading but I’m too chicken. One day…I’ll try it eventually. I’ve also been too scared to wax too.
I’m not trying to get you to pity me, but I’ve lost my tweezers forever! (I actually really like the Revlon ones) And I haven’t had time to get another pair. I’ve left my brows to be bushy until I decided to fix ‘em up for Halloween. I had to borrow my bf’s non-slanted tweezer that came with his grooming kit. =(
I hope I get chosen randomly! ;)
i get the hair on the top of my head trimmed. =)
i pluck my eyebrows on my own
if i’m at my friend’s house, and it’s a good time, her sister will wax my upper lip and clean up my eyebrows.
i shave my underarms. (i’m braving myself up for a wax)
my vajayjay gets waxed if i’m not broke, and well trimmed if i am broke.
my legs get shaved if i’m lazy and impaitent, and waxed (by me) if i’m feeling like making a difference.
i want to get my fingers *there isn’t alot of hair there, i promise* and my back *see above asterik’d comment* lasered, but that is for when I have money….
how’s THAT for a TMI!
I pluck my eyebrows religiously, but I have found that I may need to find a better method of hair removal. Why, you ask? Because, without fail, plucking makes me sneeze. At least 3 times. I shave other areas, but I think for my honeymoon, I’ll try a little wax ;-)
I get my eyebrows waxed/threaded depending on how lazy I am to walk to each location.
I kinda have peach fuzz on my lip…yea…we all do right…so when I can’t get to the salon…and I CANNOT for the life of me wax my own hair… I use Avon’s Skin So Soft facial hair remover.
Guess I need to jump on the bandwagon here and answer, too! :) I’ve heard so much about Tweezerman but could never get myself to drop ~$20 on a tweezer. We’ll see — if I don’t get one this way, maybe I shall finally pick one up on my own.
As to hair removal, I use an electric epilator on my legs, tweeze my eyebrows and armpits, and sometimes Nair my upper lip when I’m bored and don’t mind the idea of wearing a creamy burning mustache for a few minutes. :)
I use my tweezers to pluck the grey hairs out of my head. Its a wonderful tool! My BF has a slight ( ok, heavy) uni-brow. On our nights in…he rests his head on my lap while i pluck away and dab his uni-brow with ice to numb the pain. Now that’s love, baby!
I have very light eyebrows but I still need to groom/shape them. I’ve never plucked my eyebrows (I really don’t know how/where to start) so I shave them instead (yes, you heard correctly) using one of those double-edge razor blades. After shaving, my brows look even lighter and sparser (is there such a word?) so I have to fill them in with eyeshadow to darken them. My armpit, too, is almost hairless. Whatever hair are there, I pluck it and it actually feels good to me! Lol. Since I started plucking, it seems my armpit has doubled (although still light looking)…if only my eyebrows had darkened instead. :-(
I pluck my eyebrows, underarms, and occasionally my leg hairs. I home-thread privately in my bathroom to avoid strange looks from my family, friends, and the judgmental look I get from my stuffed animal family. I am horribly unsuccessful in this home-threading business…at one point, my eyebrows were lopsided. -_-
Shaving is the easiest option but after 5-7 hours, the hair follicles on my legs, arms, underarms, eyes, and god knows where else those razors have touched—will grow back as invisible stubbles. I can’t see them with my naked eye….I just randomly ‘’swipe” at my friends with my seemingly shaved legs/arms/hands/face and watch their reaction. Usually, the “argh!” and “what the hell?–” indicates that I have invisible stubble.
The Nairs and Veet products are used when I am going to have an especially good night/day. Usually meaning, I will be spending it with a man or there will be men/man-people oggling me and my friends. They work well…but the smell lingers and the invisible stubble makes its appearance again!!!
At one point in my college career, I heard you can stop hair follicles from growing by burning it with a ”just-blown out” match. Let’s just say I never did it again.
This tweezerman kit could aid in my battles against invisible stubble and unibrows! Save this world from hairy-ness, Mrs. Bee, before it’s too late!
i have the “little hair” syndrome. i don’t have any hair on my legs so i’ve never shaved in my life (my mom and sisters too!)..however i do get the few in my underarms, but theres nothing a little tweezing can’t do! then there are the little suckers around my lip area and each time i pluck them, tears roll down my cheeks. ahh..the price we pay for beauty ^.^
Let’s see- where to start…
Brows- wax, and upkeep with tweezing
Legs- electric razor or Nads waxing
Underarms- shave, either electric or manual
Bikini- manual shave
Lip- tweezing, just the darker hairs leaving the general fuzz. After my first waxing I realized that with my super oily skin it was better to have a fuzzy mustache than an acne mustache.
I pluck the stray hairs from around my eyebrows daily. I find it therapeutic as well. And I shave my legs and underarm areas. Plucking the underarms is a great idea and I did it once, but I didn’t keep up with the maintenance afterwards (you only need to pluck the few hairs that grow in from time to time) and never ended up taking the time to do it again.
I’ve plucked my brows since I was 14 (they were too way too thin, but that was the style that Drew Barrymore made popular at the time).
So by now at 25 years old, plucking is a cinch and it doesn’t hurt at all. What still bothers me is the little “seedlings” that are too short to pluck. I either have to be patient and wait a couple of days or just get better tweezers.
For the rest of my face, I pluck also. It’s time consuming, but waxing doesn’t seem to pull anything out so I spend forever plucking each hair out one by one.
For my legs, I have to shave. I’m anemic, so the few times I tired waxing, my skin bruised and my legs were purple! If you ask me, hairy legs are better than purple legs.
Underarm- I shave. I cannot imagine plucking or waxing. The PAIN!
Bikini- shave and wax …no purpleness there….that I know of. But waxing still hurts like a $!^@!
I’d like to try electrolysis or laser hair removal, but that’s way too expensive! And I don’t know if I want anybody to know where I want hair removed and then SEE it!
My sister and I are four years apart…so i experience shaving first. I hated the hair on my underarms would grow back thicker..so when she started growing hair there…she asked me what to do…and I told her to go with plucking…it’s a lot cleaner and in the long run better for your pits….so for the past 5 years she’s never once shaved her pits…she’s grown obsessed with plucking the hair there…
The other hair regime we share is getting our our eyebrows waxed….it’s so clean after the lady peals away the wax…we’re tried threading and it just doesn’t compare. The secret to not breaking out after is to use a benefit product “Boo Boo ZAP!” it’s a blend of salicylic acid and camphor. The lady that waxed me at benefit said that it helps keep the red, swelling, and irritation down….so i bought some and it even takes care of the occasional breakout.
It wasn’t until recently that had built up enough courage to get my eyebrows waxed. I can actually remember when I was in junior high experimenting by trimming my eyebrows. Needless to say I was left traumatized and verturally browless for a few months. Well, finally I decided to try waxing. The gal held my hand and told me it would only hurt for a second and since then I’ve waxed with a combination of tweezing stray hairs. Unfortunately, because I’ve been an unemployed nursing student, I’ve stuck to tweezing, but hope to someday soon revert back to waxing and maybe even try threading.
Shave legs and underarms, pluck strays. No one had ever TOUCHED my eyebrows - with wax or tweezers - until 2 days before my wedding. The lady who did it was so sweet to me, because I was scared!! I was pretty good about maintaining the look, though…for about two months. :)
I usually tweeze my brows…have done waxing, threading…whatever does the trick! The funniest part of my hair removal routine is definitely my bikini waxing. I have been going to the same woman for about 2 years and she is hysterical. A bunch of the girls from my law school journal started going to her. First, she is so quick (20 minutes tops for a full brazilian) that it makes the process a lot less painful. But her best quality is that she says CRAZY things - calling her clients “her super models” and making sure we know how “fancy” we are by handing us a mirror to check out her work! Her over the top style makes the whole process less akward.
Hi! I was just wondering what people’s experiences with laser hair removal was. I’m interested, but not sure about the whole thing.
Also, I usually shave my legs, and just pluck my eyebrows. I know, it’s so typical right? hehe. Waxing seems to scary for me, and threading is pretty new to me since I live pretty far away from bigger cities :). YAY! :)
well, laser hair removal is actually pretty painful, like i mentioned in the previous comment. its a feeling similar to a snap of the rubber band against ur skin but repeat that approx. several hundred times.. because the surface of the laser is about 1 inch by .5 inch and it has to cover whatever area you want to laser, by that surface. am i being too unclear? can i just tell you that the underarm and the bikini line will make u cry? but its honestly worth the pain. i’ve done 6 sessions for full body already and my hair growth is diminished by 80%. i have unlimited sessions until i am 100% hairless for $5k. and i financed it over 12 months interest free so it was about $420 per month.
how funny, i bought a tweezerman the day before my wedding in preparation for my honeymoon (and lost it on my honeymoon). i epilady-ed by legs for the first time at my bachelorette party (all of us zapped everything) and it permanently killed 70% of the hair on my legs. no joke! at first, i started to get a weird small-pox like infection on my legs, but each pox ended up being a killed hair root and now i am eternally grateful.
epi-lady for the majority, tweezerman what you can.
