He proposed exactly 1 year, 1 month and 6 days after our first date (it's the only part of his proposal speech that I remember), and we're planning long-distance from Los Angeles for a July wedding in my hometown of Monterey, CA. DIY: Winter Branches

November 6th, 2006 @ 1:28 pm by Mrs. Lemon

We’ve all seen photos of how branches can be used in place of flowers to make an extremely elegant wedding scene. For those winter brides who are looking to add a magical frost-bitten touch to their wedding or reception, this iced branch DIY project might be just the thing!

Materials

Step 1. Place a sheet of newspaper down for a work area. Pour a pile of Colorfill Diamonds in the center.

Step 2. Place tacky glue on the branches and roll in the Diamonds. Let set 1 hour and you have ice covered branches. Easy as that!

Variations: Add some artificial moss or red berries to some of the branches.

Ms. Wedding Decorator

Making the decorations is one thing, logistics is another. You must consider how you are going to transport all those bound limbs (without getting them tangled or breaking them - they’re brittle!) to the church…then come up with the time it will take to affix each bundle to the pews…on your rehearsal day, no less. DIY ideas are great, but ultimately, the day before your wedding, you find you’re stressed to the max because you have so little time to attend to all those details that can only be done in the final hours. If you have an idea, share it with a wedding planner and let “her” do the work. You’ll be less stressed, and whatever you pay her, in the long run, you’ll know she was worth every penny.
