Sneak Peak at My Publisher Album

November 6th, 2006 @ 8:31 am by Mrs. Ladybug

I was trying to take advantage of the discount MyPublisher had going for a while now (ended yesterday). So the final price was 96 bucks and some change, but after the discount it came out to 72 bucks. Woohoo! Only pain in the ass thing is that it took 2 hours to upload all my photos! BOO!

Oh and remember the color enhancements I wrote about? Well don’t do them in Photoshop. If you do, they don’t let you load the photos on to My Publisher. I used Picasa and adjusted the colors in there - to enhance the colors use the “saturation” button.

Here’s a sneak preview of the cover and just a few of the pages. And fyi, I enhanced the colors in all the photos. I love the way they turned out! I’ll let you know what I think once I get the album for those of you who are planning on take this route.

Lovely! I’m thinking of using MyPublisher as well… Question- How come they don’t let you load the photos from Photoshop to MyPublisher? Is it Photoshop that’s the limiting factor or MyPub? That’s so weird, considering photoshop is one of the most widely used photo editing software… Hmm this might be a problem for me…

Miss Bird of Paradise says:

what format does mypub take for uploading? jpeg? if so, you can still use photoshop, just save the files as jpegs.

i honestly don’t know if it’s my computer but if i adjusted something in photoshop and tried to add that photo in mypublisher it would just automatically kick me out.

hi mrs. ladybug! i was wondering… did you receive your my publisher albums yet? how was the print quality? i’m not sure about the bigger ones, but my friend made one- the smallest one with regular paper- and the print quality was disappointing (and it wasn’t her camera)… i was planning to use my publisher for me wedding, but i wanted to ask you how yours came out. were you happy with it?

Miss Peach says:

oh yah, if you could email me the answer: peach@weddingbee.com that would be great!

Mrs. Ladybug — what an amazing job you did! I also want to use mypublisher for both my album as well as my guestbook. But curiously, are the pages glossy, since inks (pens for guestbooks) don’t often adhere to glossy paper. Any feedback appreciate it!

Mrs. Ladybug says:

nancy: the pages are semi glossy but depending on what type of pen you use i think you should be ok.

Mrs. Ladybug
did you receive your album yet. I’m seriously considering to do my wedding album with my publisher..in fact I wasn’t sure between my publisher and Blurb.com
Also I would like to know if the quality of the printing is great.

Hi, I wandered onto your page through google when I was searching for mypublisher. I am also planning on using it for my wedding book with the current deal. How did the book turn out? I heard there may be problems in bleeding or print quality. Thanks for any information!

PS. Your pictures look great!!!

I am such a believer in MyPublisher. I had a Christmas vacation album done in the classic hardcover and it was perfect for a photo album. For my wedding album I wanted something a little more dramtic so I went for the deluxe hardcover. The difference is the size and the quality of the pages. the deluxe hardcover has thicker pages.

I would recommend it to anyone who wants to make a quality book without the price tag associated with photographers putting the book together.

I have tried various different photbook companies and mypublisher I think has the best quality, best selection in page layouts and with the coupons they have is certainly affordable.

The only con is that although they do have many more layout choices then most companies, if you are making a larger book you sometimes want more. While making my wedding album I certainly felt that way after making 40+ pages, however, when the book is printed and you look through it you are focusing on pictures so you forget that you have seen the same layout before.

Uploading can take awhile but it is certainly worth it. If you have any problems you can email the customer service and they get back to you within hours. When I was having difficulties accesses the purchase button they sent me the file for their newest software (not yet on website) and made sure the order was submitted successfully.

I have now had 5 books done by mypublisher and have not had a single problem with print quality or bleeding. I have been told that if your book does have something wrong with it you can email customer service and they will be more than happy to help you out (I am told a new book is usually shipped out).

Lastly, the turn around time is amazing. I ordered my wedding album in what should have been the last day the 2 for 1 coupon was valid. Dispite the huge increase in orders I still received my books in exactly 1 week from the day I uploaded.

If you are looking for a way to get discounted books try ordering your books through Costco- (if you have a Costco membership anywhere in the world you get a discount) If you go to the Costco website (the UK and US site both explain the full details) You just place your order using the Costco version of the MyPublisher software and you get a further discount. The books will still be delivered to your door. Also look into if ordering your book through MyPublisher.com vs mypublisher.uk.com Sometime it will work out cheaper if you order from teh UK if you are from Canada.

Good luck and happy photobooking :)
