Our most memorable vacation was a spring break roadtrip down Baja California. We were kicking around ideas about what to do on grad student budgets and then decided to drive his truck to Mexico. To the astonishment of all who know me and my fondness for the finer things in life, I happily slept in the back of the truck and wore wrinkled, sandy clothes for a week. Baja is so unspoiled and untouristy - just vast untouched beaches and fish tacos and a million stars at night. We had done no research, so everything was fresh to explore - we discovered a deserted island and went skinny-dipping and I discovered that really, the only thing I needed to be happy was him.

We’ve taken a trip to Europe right before he started law school and a trip to Vegas during his spring break from law school to regain our sanity, but the best trip we took was the most unexpected one.

We decided to go to Chincoteague Island one day to see the wild horses and hang out at the beach. I couldn’t believe such a place existed! It was an animal lover’s paradise with wild ponies strolling the sands and a nature preserve nearby. We had so much fun that day that we decided to make a weekend of it - we had no luggage no personal care items or anything. It was so much fun!

My favorite picture of us was taken outside a Vitorian House ice cream shop in the little town. It was a completely spontaneous trip and one of the most memorable we have taken together.

Our trip to Block Island last month. We had a great time–cycled from the north lighthouse to the south one, went for long runs, long walks, played a lot of Scrabble, and some other, more naughty indoor games. Just a completely low-key, stress-reducing vacation where we were able to completely focus on each other. We’ll go back.

my favorite trip was when we visited my fi’s hometown. He showed me his elementary, jr. high, and high schools and took me to his favorite restaurants growing up. I got to meet his hometown friends and we hung out.

The boy came to visit me in NYC for three days while I was on a break from teaching in Europe (long story). We barely left the airport hotel, spending the bulk of the time cuddling in bed. While the highlight was our day in the city, a close second was going to the Newark airport for dinner (it was the only place in walking distance!).

It was so wonderful to reconnect with my honey that I proposed over the phone from The Hague a week later!

My favorite vacation with my sweetie was to the New York. It was our first “big” vacation with each other which is why it was so memorable. This was back in undergrad…I think I barely turned 21. I was going to go to SUNY for grad school which is why we were there (I was interviewing). We had so much fun shopping, checking out the sights, eating frozen hot chocolate together….it was amazing just being with each other….I couldn’t imagine being away from him for 4 years. After that trip, I decided to go to school in so Cal.

The first long distance trip we took was to Michigan to see my family for Christmas. We made a little detour the day before to Bronner’s. It’s a store in Michigan that is 2-3 football fields of Christmas gloriousness! Christmas is my fiance’s favorite time of the year and my family had gone to this place almost every year since i can remember and i wanted to take him there. Bronner’s is in Frankenmuth, a little Bavarian town that goes all out for Christmas, with lights everywhere and ice sculptures. His jaw was on the floor the entire day and he was giggling like a child at absolutely everything. It was so cute when he’d say things like. “Honey, look at this!” and I’d get to laugh at him and remind him that I’d been there before. I was so excited to share a part of my childhood with him since we’ve visited his hometown many times and that was the first time he’d ever been in Michigan, let alone to my hometown.

My favorite vacation was just a few weeks ago to Burlington VT. We had to be in the area for a wedding so we extended our trip. My FI and I have been on vacation together at least a dozen times over the years but this was by far my favorite. We sat around and relaxed without any plans unlike previous vacations. With all the wedding planning the last few months it was exactly what we both needed!

My favorite vacation was last January when we went to Florida for the wedding of my now-husband’s best friend. We spent so much time apart while we were down there because he was a groomsmen and had to do the guy stuff for a few days. When we finally had a spare moment alone, we went to the beach, where we went for a long walk and he proposed to me as the sun was setting!! It was perfect.

My favorite vacation was when i took the bf to the White Mountains in New Hampshire for his birthday this past summer. It was a first for us to see nature in all its glory since we were both raised and living in LI/NYC. A close second would be when he followed me to Germany when I went for business…this was during our early stages of dating and didn’t even know each other that well and he flew all the way there, with a layover, and took a train to the hotel all while i flew business class with my company. =*)

My favorite vacation with my husband was our honeymoon, just 3 weeks ago. In the 8+ years we’ve been together we’ve never been on vacation just the two of us. We’ve taken small trips with family or friends, usually to visit other family or friends, but this was the first time that it was all about us. We went to New Mexico and spent 2 nights in a treehouse cabin relaxing, and then 4 nights in Santa Fe eating fabulous food, visiting museums, and taking wonderful hikes. Having been together for a long time already, our honeymoon being our first vacation together made it really special to me.

My favorite vacation with my honey was to Niagara Falls. We walked under the falls, ate at Wolfgang Puck’s, gambled at the Pai Gow Poker tables (that was the most fun!) and stayed at a wonderful B&B! We’ve decided that will be “our getaway” anytime we need to escape :)

It would be easy enough to say that my favorite vacation with my fiancÆ’© was our trip to the Bahamas, where we got engaged. But the truth is my favorite vacation was our road trip to Vermont.

The summer of our junior year in college, I was going through a difficult time and we knew we to take some kind of a break. So one Friday we drove from Washington, D.C. to a gorgeous bed and breakfast in Stowe, Vermont. We spent the weekend exploring the woods, canoeing on the local lake, eating Ben and Jerry’s from the factory down the street, and sitting on the back porch watching the stars come out. It was just what a vacation could be - a chance to relax, escape a little bit, and reconnect with each other. It also helped us establish in our relationship that no matter what we’re going through, we can lean on each other to remind ourselves what’s important.

Now whenever we’re stressed about work or having a bad day, we talk about the pine trees and the lake and the moose crossing signs from our trip and the day gets a little bit brighter.

(It also doesn’t hurt that Ben and Jerry’s happens to be a bad day cure-all.) :-)

I went on a road trip to my boyfriend’s house in Ithaca, NY. It was my first time driving long distance so I was extremely freaked out and I didn’t think I would make it, but alas I did. I stayed at his house for about 5 days, and he took me sightseeing all around the town to see the gorgeous waterfalls that Ithaca is known for. He also showed me around the Cornell campus, took me on a winetrail, and he took me to all the restaurants that he loves to eat at through the course of my stay. It was the best vacation I’ve had thus far, and we’re looking forward to our dream vacation, which is Hawaii. But that’ll have to wait until we both graduate. :-)

my fiance and i have been struggling to keep a long-distance relationship work…but the perks of that is travelling a lot and having mini-vacations all the time. the best time i had was going to catalina island for him to propose to me. second best was going to DC to watch him play in a bball tournament.

our best vacation was a one day trip to the beach. he works five-six days a week and i’m at school four hours away from him usually so we work for our time together. this past summer we went to the beach for just one day but it was perfect. we stuffed our faces with beach food and lounged around in the sun. i did accidentally spit some water in his face after a wave took me out…i don’t think i’ll ever live that down!
