He came down to SoCal to help me move back home. We went around playing tourist for the week that we were there, and then roadtripped the entire 17 hours home. After all that time stuck in a car, you’d think we’d be sick of each other! But instead, it was one of the most relaxing vacations ever.

When we were dating, we took a February trip to Yosemite with a few other couples from my husband’s bible college. It was only months into dating so we totally had the biggest fight there… over something so stupid it’s embarrassing. But it was a wonderful trip. Yosemite was covered in snow, so the hiking was exciting and adventurous… And we stopped by San Francisco and had lots of fun at Ghiradelli’s square and Chinatown. (The food is so good in Chinatown) Looking back, it was a great time given to us so we could learn more about each other.

We had been dating for 2 years when we decided to take a trip to Taiwan together. Coincidently we were both born there and came at the age of 4 and still had relatives there. We stayed with my relatives for half the time and his relatives the other half. It was so great to explore Taiwan together, experiencing it for the first time with another person just like myself because we had both gone previously but with family. It also gave us a good feel for what each other’s extended family were like. We spent 2 weeks there - basically eating, shopping and more eating. It was fantastic!

We went to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia for our honeymoon. My husband is an ocean lover being a surfer and we both LOVE ocean wild life. Went snorkeling for the first time and LOVED it… had to try surfing since it’s my husband’s passion. An excerpt from his xanga…”She actually tried surfing in Australia with a hunky Aussie instructor. I overlooked it considering the fact that Jen was finally trying one of my passions in life. Jen was pretty tired afterwards, but she did REALLY well. Seeing my WIFE catch her very first wave on her first try left me even more stoked than my first wave. She caught a lot of waves and had a blast. She even had a dream about surfing. How awesome is that? sniff sniff…. I was so proud I almost cried. I’m SO stoked!” :)

Sadly, we haven’t taken a real vacation together yet! (Although I’m saving up for a trip to the carribean to give him for Christmas)

But we did take a weekend trip to NYC in the first year we were dating. We had a great time, Dave went to his first fancy restaurant and first Broadway show, smooching disguistingly on the street corners, wandering down the streets seeing all the Christmas window displays.

Then we went to bed in the hotel and found a HUGE toenail in the bedsheets!!!! YUCK!

The best vacation my FI and I have ever taken was last year we went to Las Vegas for my birthday (12/30) and New Years. It was an awesome time. There was about 12 of us total but FI and I made plenty of time just for each other. On my birthday he surprised me with a deluxe spa package. He knows I love to get pampered and rarely ever do and without my asking for it he arranged a special 3 hours of my day for a massage and facial and full body sugar scrub. Then he took me out for dinner and romanced me all night long. It was both of our first time there and everyone kept joking that we were gona come back all married by an Elvis impersonator. heh… We weren’t even engaged then… but we are now! And no, Elvis will not be marrying us (or will he…?!)

I had just graduated from college and he wanted to take me on a trip instead of buying me a gift that would ultimately end up in the closet. We headed to the Outer Banks of North Carolina and camped for the entire week. We climbed lighthouses, took long walks on the beach and even rented a tandem kayak for an entire day. We fell in love again after dating for 2 1/2 years.

We had flashlight (instead of candlelight) dinners over hot dogs and Slurpees from the local 7-11. We shared half gallons of ice cream while watching the bugs fly around our lights.

All week he spoke about taking me to a special place to watch the sunset. The last night of our trip we watched the sunset over the historical hunting club facing the sound. It was so beautiful words can not even describe. Now, two years later, we are getting married at that historic location and we are planning to watch the sunset again with all our close friends and family.

My bf (now fiance) and I took a trip to cabo san lucas for our 2 year anniversary. We were there for a whole week and while I thought I’d be sick of him by the week’s end, we had the best time and feel that we got closer through that vacation. Instead of sightseeing all week, we hung out by the beach, chatted away about our lives, dreams and future.

our favorite vacation together was our honeymoon to french polynesia…it was so memorable because, after dating for 3 years, it was our first vacation together. my mother-in-law was really sick for many years so unfortunately we didn’t have the opportunity to travel. also, my husband had never been out of the country since he came to the US as a child! it was amazing to see him experience a new culture while we shared in the joy of beginning of our new life together. :)

It was our first trip to Las Vegas together. We were “talking” or “dating” for awhile and it was just not going anywhere, I thought this was going to be the last trip together before we parted ways but it turns out, he asked me to be his gf right before the trip happened and it turned out to be our first trip as a real couple. =)

After dating for a few months, Alex and I spent spring break on a road trip from Missouri around the perimeter of Colorado and back to Boulder and then home to Missouri. We stopped at every Pony Express Museum in all the small towns on Hwy 36 in Kansas only to find NONE of them were open. We stopped for a picnic lunch at the Geographic Center of the Contiguous United States in Lebanon, KS and drove through Rabbit Ears pass in heavy snow. We saw a sad little town called Dinosaur, CO and dinosaurs in Utah, a moose crossed the road in front of us in Colorado, and we went through Wolf Creek pass, though it was not as scary as the song implied. I have hundreds of photos and even more memories, favorite hotels and a really neat little taco joint in Colorado Springs get back to. And when I asked him later when he knew, he told me it was on that trip. Spending 14 hours a day in a car with each for a full week is a great way to get to know each other. And we still quote little bits of “Wolf Creek Pass” by CW McCAll, especially when we’re going downhill very quickly. And when he proposed in the mountains of Utah, it brought back memories of the trip through bigger mountains. I know we’ll go on more trips through the years, but this is my favorite.
