Embossers

November 8th, 2006 @ 5:00 pm by Mrs. Plum

I ordered some embossers and a wax seal to “embellish” my invitations, save the dates, favors, cocktail napkins, etc. The company I ended up going with was Wilshire Graphic Press (Miss Lemon also blogged about them earlier this week).

The ordering process was super easy and they were great to work with! I ordered: 1 desktop bottom-loading embosser

With 2 custom plates: address and monogram with tree motif.

Here’s the monogram with our tree motif

The monogram motif plate - as demonstrated on a foil sticker (they put this on the outside of the box to show you what’s inside).

Address label plate with wedding motif. We chose the tree because we’re having a summer wedding in a garden and because it’s versatile enough to use as our everyday embosser to emboss envelopes, stationery, etc.

The embosser in action on the flap of my save-the-date chocolate envelopes.

Verdict:
Overall, I would highly recommend Wilshire Graphic Press - their prices are great, they have wonderful customer service, they send you online proofs in a day or two, and the product ships quickly to your doorstep!

The only real complaint that I have with the products that I ordered is that the impression of the embosser is not as deep as I would like. I suppose I just expected it to be a deeper impression… perhaps it’s because I didn’t use heavier weight/cotton paper, but oh well. :) I still like it!

Here is exactly what I chose in my orders (my proofs):

and… the wax seal!

And this, just for fun (because I know a certain someone will love this!) ;)

They look wonderful! :) I bit the bullet (succumbed to my weakness) after Miss Lemon’s post and now I can’t wait until it arrives.. their turnaround time was amazing. It was about 12 hours between placing my order and receiving my proof, with special requests & all. =)

We used the same tree for our wedding motif! I ordered an embosser with just the image of the tree and used it on our invitation cards. We also created a watermark of the image for the RSVPs and direction cards, and used the picture on the front of our programs. We picked the tree to integrate with lyrics from our ceremony interlude “Grow Old With Me” by John Lennon. “Grow old along with me, two branches of one tree…”

This will sound crazy, but when I was doing my wishcards I used a heavy weight card stock and didn’t like the impression I was getting with the embosser - it was also painful for my fingers and hands after a while.

My solution? I put the embosser on the floor and used my heel to press the embosser down.

It made a beautiful deep impression, saved my fingers and was done about a thousand times more quickly, believe it or not.

I love the look of the personalized embosser. This is a dumb question, but here goes anyways. Since you aren’t married yet, are the initials (i.e. T E) the first initials of your first names or your last names?

T and E are our first name initials :)

All along i had wanted to make my own invites, etc. and to emboss something on them. (We haven’t yet picked a specific image.) I was considering doing them all by hand with some type of embossing stencil, but this will be so much easier and faster. When the time comes to do our invites, I will definitely have to get one of these. And we can always reuse it for letters, stationary, scrapbooking, and anything else we can think of after the wedding. :) Great idea!

I simply loved your embossed seals and planning to add them to my collection of stationary seals. Generally, I order my seals from Custom Embossers. The ordering process at the website is simple and the rates are also affordable. By now, I have ordered monograms, wax seals and electric seals from the website and loved them all. I highly recommend them.
