Non-Leather Wedding Shoes

November 8th, 2006 @ 11:34 am by Mrs. Bluebell

As a vegetarian who doesn’t wear leather, I occasionally have trouble finding nice shoes. But Payless always has a plentiful (& cheap!) supply, and I can turn to MooShoes for dress shoes or boots or if I want something higher quality. However, MooShoes doesn’t stock any wedding shoes - what’s a non-leather-wearing girl to do!?!

My first solution was to purchase some gold sandals from Ann Taylor Loft (most of their shoes are leather, but not all) - which is what I may end up wearing.

But…then I see all the wedding shoes…and I can’t help but wonder if I might want REAL wedding shoes for this one time in my life when I can actually get away with white satin. To that end, I asked Erica Kubersky, the extremely helpful co-founder of MooShoes if she had any ideas, and she sent me a long email with some links and ideas!

My favorites are:

Beyond Skin will make any of their many styles in the fabric of your choice as a wedding shoe, starting at 240 British Pounds. Many of their other shoes also come in colors like Blonde and Pewter that you could use as wedding shoes, although (most of) their standards don’t come in white or ivory.

My all time favorite from Beyond Skin is the Anna, which comes in all sorts of gorgeous fabrics, like white or champagne damask, cream lace, or white or gold embroidered flowers.

They also have more traditional options like the Iona, in the same above fabrics.

Miss Lily also found these great d’Orsay pump from Vegetarian Shoes & Bags which are totally my front runner for the straight-up “wedding-shoe” category!

And if anyone else is searching, one nifty feature I discovered recently is that Zappos lets you search for vegetarian shoes on their site! None of their wedding-ish shoes were calling out to me at the moment, but that’s definitely a resource worth keeping in mind!

Does anyone else have any good non-leather shoe recommendations?

Not only did I have no idea that you could search for things like that, but I love the ones with the flowers! The open-toed d-orsay pump is totally cute, and good for your summer wedding! I don’t know where to look, but I’ll start searching. :)
