Backup Photo Locations

November 9th, 2006 @ 3:08 pm by Mrs. Butterfly

So it seems like there may be some chance of rain on our wedding day. I’ve been telling myself over and over that rain is good luck, pictures in the rain look wonderful, a big bright umbrella will really liven up the pictures, etc. But in my heart, I don’t want it to rain.

Since we are staying at the W in Times Square, I thought it would be amazing to get at least a few shots in Times Square in my wedding dress. Very New York pictures, don’t you think? Then we were going to take some quaint pictures in the West Village. However, with the possibility of rain, we have to think of alternate locations.

I really love the quintessential New York style, so if it rains, we are going to take pictures in Grand Central Station. It does make for beautiful pictures, and I know my photographer has shot there before.

But… I still dont want it to rain.

Would rain ruin your wedding day?

I’ve gotten it in my head that it is totally cool for it to rain on my wedding day..for two reason. For one, if you have some cool umbrellas–you can get some nice shots. Also, pics are better when it is not bright and sunny outside..or so I’ve heard a photographer say. Not to say you want to be outside when it’s pouring!

one of my sister’s best friends got married on a day with massive rainfall — a lot of people could not make it to her wedding due to street closings and floods. just after the ceremony, as i was loitering after the recieving line, i saw the mob burst into tears and apologize to her beautiful daughter for the rain. then i saw the bride pull her mom close and say, “it’s only rain, mom, and it’s only one day!”

it was one of the sweetest moments i have ever seen in a wedding.

I voted yes, but that’s not really all that true. As long as I’m married to Mr. Blueberry at the end of the day I’ll consider it a success! But our venue is so beautiful and we were planning on having the ceremony outdoors, so it would definitely change our wedding’s tone drastically if we had to have the ceremony inside…not to mention all the great photo ops we’d lose!

I hate to rain on your post but I think you need photo permit for Grand Central Terminal? Make sure that your backup location doesn’t require fee/permit. Hope it works out!

I got married a couple of weeks ago and had a rainy, yicky Ohio day. At first, I was bummed out because I wanted outdoor pictures.

But when the rain let up a little, we took an umbrella outside and took some pictures. My veil was blowing all over the place and my photographer said it made for some cool photos. I can’t wait to see them!

I love umbrella pictures and buying some neat, unique umbrellas to have on hand in case it rains could make for some great photos!

It rained on my wedding day, and it turned out just fine. In fact, we made the best of it and got some adorable pictures of us under umbrellas.

i think rain wouldn’t put that much of a damper on the big day..although i don’t know how i’d exactly feel on that day if it were to rain..haha

It’s going to be the best day of my life no matter what…but rain would suck. It wouldn’t ruin it, but it would suck. We have our heart set on having an outdoor ceremony. Hopefully it will be a nice fall day.

It would, only because I *really* want to have our cocktail hour outdoors. We can have it indoors, but I think it would be so much nicer if it was outdoors instead. Lol.
