West Village Photo Ops

November 9th, 2006 @ 3:35 pm by Mrs. Bee

Miss Butterfly wanted me to scout out some cool spots to take pictures in the West Village on her wedding day. That was before she found out that it might rain (I hope it doesn’t!). But since I already took some pictures, I wanted to share them with you guys. :)

I walk a pug named Francis who lives a block away from me every day. I love walking him because otherwise I’d never leave my desk, and it’s kinda like having a dog. Francis the Pug was too busy sniffing leaves to pose for a picture here.

Anyway, I love living in the West Village so let me show you around my hood! These are all pictures I took on our walk within a 6 block radius.

First stop: Grove and Hudson. A lot of the buildings in this area have wonderfully colorful doors.

Right across the street is an elementary school with a fabulous blue door.

A private courtyard on Grove and Bedford.

This is the building they show as the outside of Monica’s apartment on Friends.

Close up of The Little Owl (not Central Perk).

Grove and Bedford is a picture taking hotspot because of the Friend’s building, and these great ivy covered buildings across the street from it. This is a horrible picture, but I promise it looks great in person.

Walking down a block, this is the tree lined street of Barrow and Bedford.

It’s a great street because it’s kind of u-shaped at the end of the block.

Sorry for the smudged picture - my camera lens was dirty.

Yet another private courtyard. There’s a great open garden inside - I don’t think they would mind if you took a couple of wedding pics there? ;)

There’s an adorable little park on the corner of Barrow and Hudson. Unfortunately no dogs allowed so I couldn’t go inside with Francis.

Hudson and Grove. I love what Fred Egan did with Miss Ant’s pics - used a mundane background but took beautiful interesting pictures. Details like these signs, lampposts, gates - all make for great backdrops.

St. Lukes Church/School has beautiful grounds with tons of foliage. I happened to capture this couple chatting under a tree - he gave her a rose. Awwww….

St. Luke’s tower.

It’s the perfect time to take pictures in the West Village right now - winter is late this year so the leaves are still changing colors and it’s absolutely gorgeous. :)

Those places are spectacular! It makes me feel like Seattle is actually boring, which it is not…just not so landmark-ish and new. ;-) We do have all the Sleepless in Seattle spots! ;-)

Your pug is precious! I have one too…her name is Sally. She’s SUCH a spoiled brat but so human. I know another pug lover can appreciate that.

That’s my work neighborhood! The ginkgos on the north side of Walker Park (Hudson and Leroy) are *amazing* right now, an almost glowing yellow, although the rain knocked a bunch of them down. If you could get a picture there this weekend it would still look great. BTW, Francis is adorable. Great name for a pug.
