A Constant Reminder

And there my dress hangs - in plain sight every morning and night… and it’s been there since I purchased it five months ago! I had never planned to buy my dress so quickly - but the stars aligned at a sample sale and it’s here. In fact, it’s probably eating up 5% of the living space in my tiny little studio apartment!

If you’re like me, staring at your dress, how do you keep yourself from playing dress-up everyday?!?

HAH! i took mine to my mom’s house as i still have a room there and an empty walk-in closet.

about dress up, it’s such a freakin production to get in and out of my dress (which isn’t even THAT poofy or complicated), that the thought of sweating in my dress deters me.

p.s. you’re supposedly not supposed to store your dress in plastic as it off-gasses and could potentially cause yellowing. guess what my dress is stored in? that’s right, plastic!

hm

my dress is in fi’s front closet, hogging up 1/4 space. i can’t play with it because he lives an hour away.

he’s not tempted to take a little peek! i put an ad of my dress into our organizer, but i covered it up with the store receipts. that wards off all temptation!

I remind myself what a clutz I am. The fear of destroying my beautiful dress usually is enough to keep it in its bag. I’ve only given in once in the 2 months I’ve had it. Not too bad for me. :-)

I am a college student and my dress has been living at my parents’ house, 2 hours away, so it’s not a daily temptation!

I heard the same thing about storing it in plastic, so we got a nicer bag to store it in. No taking chances here!!

I can’t get into mine alone, and there’s not anyone that I want to see me in it yet!

OMG. I’m already married, and that is EXACTLY how my dress is hung on my bedroom door. It’s been staring at me for two months now, all dirty and un-dry-cleaned in its bag.

No worries… the plastic bag just hangs on the back of it, so that when Mr. Lemon visits it can be covered. It was covered for the photo ;) It sadly can’t fit in my tiny closet or my IKEA wardrobe… I have far too many clothes. I was going to store it up in NorCal, but then I’d have to arrange to get it back in time for fittings and such…and that could be problematic with my schedule.

lol. thats why i leave it for storage at the boutique i bought it from - they steam and clean it for you and bring it to you and help you get dressed on the day of the wedding :)

Mine is actually hanging directly in front of my treadmill in our spare bedroom. Talk about motivation to keep going!
I’m not all that tempted to try it on….want to wait until I shed a few lbs. and then see how fabulous it looks! :)

Who says you can’t play dress up?! ;-)

I mean you *have* to try it on to make sure the shoes you bought to go with it look alright. And to see that the bra you bought doesn’t show and that the hair things and jewerly look okay. And that it looks okay in daylight and night time. Riiiiight? ;)

I gave mine to my parents to hold on to because 1) I would never be able to keep myself from touching it and playing dress up, 2) My FI would certainly peek. He’s not good with suprises and 3) who has the darn closet space when you live in NY?
Anyway, I’m going home for Thanksgiving and I am going to stare at it for a while. Now, I’d better go to the gym to make sure I fit into it in 7 months! : )
