It’s All About The Process…

November 10th, 2006 @ 12:04 pm by Mrs. Lime

…but the process is killing me.

First of all, sorry for being so MIA. Here comes a nice, long, stream-of-consciousness post for you all to attempt to make up for it. Work is kicking my booty big time right now and probably will until year-end. I’ve been trying to get some real wedding planning done too, so that takes up most of my non-working hours. Not to mention trying to do the other stuff in my life neither work nor wedding related. Also, I’ve been ‘knotting’ a lot lately, in order to get my butt into gear by getting local vendor recommendations, rather than blogging. This thought reminds me of…

…the hot topic of inviting ‘online friends’ to your wedding. I know some of the local knotties have done it as some have become really good friends IRL. Would I? I’ll have to see when the time rolls around to send out invites and when my RSVP’s roll in.

Speaking of invites, I’ve been working on a ‘logo’ for our wedding (I refuse to say monogram, although that is what it is. I don’t like how stuffy that word sounds…what?). Which brings us back to…

…the process. The subject line was one of my third-year studio’s quotes. In school, it was all about the process. Unforch, in the real world, it’s all about the end product and the bottom-line. *Shaking fist at The Man.* I’m going back to my process-loving, documentation-of-every-step roots by sharing here. Here’s a little glimpse into my creative process. Before I produced the logos below, I did some hand sketches which I shall share once I lug my sketchbook to work so I can scan it in.

My font study of our first initials:

dp_fontstudy_commented.jpg
[program used: Adobe Illustrator 8.0. Yes, I'm that far behind the times.]

Mr. Lime doesn’t really like any of the above, and asked, “Do we HAVE to have one of these things?” Um, no. So I am not sure if this process will continue. Other alternatives I’m thinking of are just graphics that have nothing to do with anything at this point. Especially since even after my color poll, I’m still totally undecided.

Although Mr. Lime wasn’t much help in this arena, I am so blessed to have him as a partner in crime during this crazy process. He spent his week off between jobs contacting DJ’s. We’re not loving the ones off our venue’s required list, so we’re trying to work something out with them to use another one we know we’ll love.

Speaking of required lists, hot topics, and jumping on the bandwagon, I too will be posting up pictures of my e-ring and photo-taking tips next.

The end. Now pat yourself on the back for slogging through the craziness that is Miss Lime’s thought process.

Hehe, I have a document just like that on my computer!! But I am even less decided if I want to actually use it or not, so we’ll see.

At least you’re not using Photoshop 4.0!

Oh how we’ve all been there! Mr. Lemon veto’d lots of my original ideas, with his input, we came out with something we both liked!

I like the logo two to the right from the “mochi on a stick,” but I bet you could’ve guessed that! And I will be happy to be a single seat-filler, like those random peeps at the Oscars. Ha! ;)
