Vow To Be Fit - The Finale

November 10th, 2006 @ 11:02 am by Mrs. Bee

Yesterday was my final day on the 9 day Vow To Be Fit Program, and I lost 8.8 pounds!!! 8O If only I had exercised too!

I honestly didn’t expect to lose more than 5 pounds, so I’m very very happy to say the least. It didn’t really hit me how much weight I’d lost until I was wearing my usual jeans 2 days ago, and I kept stepping on the back cuff because they were too big.

The diet itself isn’t hard to stick to - it’s not being able to eat socially that’s the hard part. In the past 9 days I’ve had a welcome dinner with my in-laws, a bridal shower, my meetaversary, and a farewell dinner with my in-laws. And I was good (ok except for one glass of wine) the entire time. What’s been the most amazing thing while being on this program is that I haven’t had any cravings for unhealthy food, or even a desire to cheat. I’ve done Atkins and South Beach in the past but quit very quickly because the cravings were just too hard to handle.

The question everyone keeps asking is - but do you keep it off? Rebecca, who got me started on the program, has lost 30 pounds since June and kept it off! But is there any diet or exercise program in the world that keeps working if you stop and revert back to your old ways? If there were, we’d all be skinny. :P This is about a lifestyle change, and I definitely feel like I’ve made one - I’m on the right track.

I can’t explain the science of it all, so here’s a little explanation behind how it works:

Regarding the cleanse, Days 1, 2 and 8, 9 are cleansing days which consist of 4 cleanse drinks throughout the day, snacks mid-morning and mid-afternoon, and lots of water. For those who miss the idea of chewing on something (it’s all a mindset), we suggest an apple, celery w/ peanut butter or almond butter, or a few almonds. The cleanse drink contains the inner heart filet of the aloe plant and is very soothing to the stomach and bowels. Because of its high alkilinity, it helps bring the body back into balance. The cleanse drink also contains suma tea, burdock tea, pau d’ arco, etc which are herbs that have been used for 1000s of years to cleanse the liver, blood, gall bladder, etc. There are also 72 ionic trace minerals (highly absorbable) and lots of other nutrients! Each drink is equivalent to a 1500 calorie meal in terms of the amount of nutrition that is getting into your body. You are not starving yourself! :)

Days 3 through 7 consist of a shake (chocolate or vanilla)-lunch of your choice-shake with snacks in b/n and lots of water. The shakes are made up of an organic whey protein (this is the easiest type of protein for the body to assimilate), fiber, probiotics, live digestive enzymes, amino acids, vitamins and minerals. The high quality protein is why so many athletes use our product as well…..I look and feel better now than when I worked out in a gym 2 hours/day. The live digestive enzymes help to ensure your body is absorbing the nutrients.

So many of us are lacking nutrition despite all the food we eat because of all the processed, “dead” foods we consume daily, and our soils have been depleted of so many minerals due to pesticides and overfarming. It’s no wonder Americans are the most overfed, undernourished country in the world and are battling so many diseases and weight issues! As you put your body back into balance, watch how it responds!

I honestly loved it so much, and I didn’t think it was that hard to stick to, I’m going to do it once every 3 months. Right now I’m going to continue with the shakes for breakfast (which are quite filling), and have a sensible lunch/dinner.

I have a lot of energy and I feel great… and now I fit into my skinny jeans!!! :D

I got the vanilla and I actually like the taste. You can blend some berries into it if you want (I did that a couple of times). For people who consume a lot of caffeine, you should do a 2 day precleanse (which is essentially the same as the shake days). That makes the program 11 days. I dont’ really consume caffeine so I opted to skip it. But I’ve heard that some people kick the coffee and continue with the shakes after the program.

My concern is caffeine withdrawl. I must have one cup of coffee each morning or I get a headache. But I think I’ll give it a try.

Just as a side note for people who might get excited and try this…Changing your diet to cleanse you could affect how medicines you normally take metabolize in your body. Furthermore, some homeopathic methods (St. John’s Wort being one) lower the effectiveness of birth control pills. Everything you do can affect the ADME (absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion) of drugs.

If you are on medications, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before doing a cleanse or adding nutrional/herbal supplements to your diet.

Congratulations! It seems like this diet really works and is good for you. I took a look-see at the website though. Did you buy the program? It just seems pretty steep for me to pay that much for shakes and stuff. And if you did buy that amount do you think it’s worth it, and which plan did you buy? Have you run out and had to buy more?

skichik - that is an excellent point and we’ll post a disclaimer to that effect on every diet related post from here on out. as for the before and after pics - i think i would rather die than pose in a bikini. ;)

bunnie - there is a wholesale program (i’ve linked to in an above comment) that enables you to buy the program for 160 the first time (for cost of membership) and 120 any time after that.

I purchased the 9 day program thru a friend who was already a member so i paid $120. i didn’t run out and in fact have a lot left so will continue with it until i use it all up. then maybe in feb or so I’ll do it again.

That’s an awful lot of money. I don’t necessarily think it’s safe to lose that much weight in nine days. Why not save the money, and just work out? That way, you keep the weight off.

Do you have an online personal training web site that you recommend to help with workout selections to go along with the cleanse?

Please let me know

Thanks

I’m on my last day and I haven’t weighed in yet. You really don’t get the urge to cheat or whatsoever. My first two days I lost 5 lbs. I am seeing a big difference in my body and am much happier. My FH has also been amazed with the progress I have made. I feel like I’m making a real change in my eating habits and plan on continuing my trips to the gym. YAY!

I can’t wait to try this! I’ve been working with one of the Isagenix consultants to decide when I should get started, so I’m planning to get going the first week of December. Your success made me that much more excited!!! Congratulations!
