Happy Monthly Anniversary To Us

November 13th, 2006 @ 5:19 pm by Mrs. Violet

When Mr. Violet and I first started dating, we celebrated each monthly anniversary for at least a year or two. I used to write him a card every month. If I continued to give him a card every month, he’d have 95 cards by now.

The celebrations dwindled with time, but we still acknowledge our monthly anniversaries. I don’t really think that we got lazy - I think it just got too repetitive, and now that we’re living together, it doesn’t really matter as much. No need to wait to celebrate because we can go out whenever we want if we feel like it. Plus, it can be expensive.

I normally wouldn’t even point out that it’s our anniversary (except each other), but today is November 13th which means we are just one month away from our big 8! 8 whole years… crazy right?

I remember feeling pretty blah during our 7th anniversary. Mr. Violet can be very discrete when he wants to be, so I had no idea that he was planning a proposal. I was starting to fret that it was never going to happen. Well, I guess I got the biggest surprise of the year - engaged in Paris, what a perfect proposal! And this time next year, I’ll be married. 8O

Hah! I thought we were weird for doing this, too :) We did the same for our first two years. The other night, we went out to dinner for our 52 monthiversary…just for something silly and fun, but really just an excuse to spend time together :)

we’re like that too ~ we didn’t celebrate our monthly anniversaries in a big way as time went by, but we still exchanged cards or a sentimental email.

Today was the 3 year, 11 month (3.11) anniversary of my fiance and I! I love monthly anniversaries! …. Strangely, we also celebrate our engagement anniversary, which is tomorrow. It will have been three months. :)

My FI always tells me its silly to celebrate every 6 months or every month, we need to celebrate everyday (because we’re happy & healthy together). It kind of kills the romance & surprise but oh well……i guess he’s brutally right.

yeah…the romantic in me would like my FI to continue to do something special to acknowledge special days..nothing grand..but maybe something small but personal..

Cassi - Thank you for writing. I think the best gifts are always those that come from the heart. A small inexpensive gift can be “big” if it’s given with love. Perhaps you can make a mini scrapbook for him or even write him a heartfelt letter. Best of luck!
