For me, the love affair began early on. Within the first few days of stock piling wedding magazines and flagging pages (I kid you not, I actually used flags) I came across what would become my gown. Of course my fickle heart did not just love one but many (there is a dress ho in all of us yet). So off I went to try on a million and three dresses. In the end, I’d love to say I put on my gown and fairy dust rained down upon us and we rode off in the sunset, but it didn’t quite happen that way. The truth is, I went and tried it on three times before finally listening to my heart and buying it. Here is the ad I flagged:

And here I am in the gown on the day. I finally buckled down and ordered it (during the last possible week I could, I might add):

Months later when the gown came I went to see it with a bevy of worries. Would I still like it? Would it fit? Would the gathered tulle really look like “a giant hankerchief” like my sister said?
Of course, I still liked it, of course (after some alterations) it fit and well, considering how much I cried on the wedding day, the giant ‘kerchief became something of a bonus!
So here I present, in all her glory, the prettiest gown in all the world:
