Chocolate Roses

Due to the popularity of brown color schemes in weddings, French rose breeder NIRP International has created a chocolate rose called the Terra Nostra.

They may still be hard to find, but for those of you using brown in your color schemes, would you want to use chocolate roses?

    I am doing a friend’s daughter’s wedding which has a vintage theme. So far we have only found Leonidas and several other ‘antique-looking’ roses from bigrose.com. I would love to find just a few of these to intersperse in the bouquet & table vases. Anyone have a source?????? Thank you, Rona

    I think they’re great and would use them in my chocolate brown/pink wedding — only just a few, dappled with ivory roses and pink.

    I am interested in these too for my wedding, I’ve heard from a friend that a florist called “A Love’s In Bloom” will be showcasing them at a Bridal Fair at the San Ramon Marriott on Sunday 10/5/08, if anyone is interested in seeing them “for real”

    @Collette:
    I live in northwestern Michigan (hour north of Grand Rapids), and I have no idea where I might find them — admittedly, I have not had a lot of time to research where I might find them and have not talked with my florist, but we we are in a very rural setting) … I wonder how easily I’d be able to get a two or three dozen …

    I love these roses, I thought I wanted them in my bridal bouquet until I had my florist order them for a sample bouquet. The batch she recieved was more of a burgundy, rusty terra cotta color more so then chocolate brown. I opted not to put them in our bouquets. I still love the idea though.

    I am absolutely using those. Most of my Bouquet will be brown roses with Blue Iris. The first time I saw this picture it just took my breath away. My wedding has a very earthy theme… and my wedding dress will actually be mainly brown. So it is a good match.

    Terra Nostra is a new ” brown rose” and VERY rare. However when I did get it in, it never looked as brown as the photo. For a brown rose Estelle is more attractive.

    We have direct contact with farms in Ecuador, Columbia and California. And we can get any rose you would like. Other brown flowers to consider, Brown cymbidiums, brown Arandas and chocolate cosmos.

    I agree with the one blog, brown is best served up as an accent.

    Call any time to set up an appointment.
