September 14 was the “2006 Dossey/Supance Wedding Golf Tournament.” We had 7 foursomes compete in a golf tournament at the River Course at Alisal in Solvang. Contests during the event included “Longest Drive,” and “Closest to the Pin.” The Longest Drive winner won a Taylor Made hybrid club. The Closest to the Pin won a Ping putter. Prizes were awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place teams. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams won wine baskets with 4, 2, or 1 bottle(s) of Firestone wine. Embroidered hats were also awarded to the top three teams.

The twist was that each foursome was given an eight foot string. The string could be used to eliminate stokes at the team’s discretion. The goal at the end of the round was to not have any string left.

Friday, September 15, 2006
On Friday, we organized an afternoon of wine tasting at Firestone Vineyard. Our guests enjoyed a private tour of the vineyard and description of the wine-making process. We then tasted Firestone’s varietals in the barrel room.

That evening we joined 65 family members at Mattei’s Tavern for the Rehearsal Dinner. Mattei’s Tavern was first built in 1886 as a stagecoach stop. Our guests dined on herb-crusted salmon, roasted chicken, and the best prime rib any of us had ever tasted.

Later that evening, we joined about 200 of our wedding guests at the Wine Valley Inn in Solvang for a Welcome Reception. There was plenty of wine, champagne, beer, coffee and Sprinkles cupcakes for everyone.
