Now I Have Gone And Done It…

November 14th, 2006 @ 3:32 pm by Mrs. Raspberry

I already bought a wedding dress (and I love it), but my mom convinced me to try on a couple of other dresses while she was in town this past weekend…

and I now love the Monique Lhuillier Swan Lake!

The debate of course though, is whether or not it is ridiculous to change my mind about my dress and also what to do with the first dress if I do buy this one.

What do you think? Did you have dress doubts after already buying one? And do you know of anywhere I could sell the first dress?

I’ve seen so many brides “try” to sell their first dress and most barely recover 30% of the cost if anything at all. It only seems plausible when the dress is VERY popular and its in a larger size that can be easily altered.
As for Swan Lake, it’s frequently on eBay for $1-2k.
I really want the black version of Swan Lake for the “Black and White Ball” in San Fran… and I swear I would wear it every single year for the rest of my life if I could get it!

I’m not that crazy about my dress but I don’t think I’ll buy another one. You can sell your first dress on the forums on the knot.com

you can try to sell your dress on ebay. I’m not sure if you get back that much. I llike the Swan Lake dress, it look so pretty. Should go with this one if you like it so much. Wedding is once in a life time.

it’s possible to love a number of dresses! i sure did! does one dress fit your venue better? how are you doing budget wise on your wedding planning? maybe pay for the new dress yourself rather than use the wedding money to buy it, that way you have less to feel guilty about. and i agree with the first poster… it seems like it’ll be hard to sell your original dress unless it’s high end + in much demand + in a larger size.

Well, I’ll be honest, the dress I bought was not my first choice. The one I was in love with I think I sort of let my mother talk me out of so what I ended up with, while very nice…still needed alot of work. I bought it in June and my first fitting was September. By then, it was too big and when I put it on I wanted to weep. I was uncomfortable and I hated it. I am now on fitting three and with tons of alterations it is much closer to what I had in mind and I am really excited to see the finished product. My last fitting is next Tuesday!

I had doubts about my dress- and I actually had doubts about my dress due to this very same Swan Lake dress! It’s a tough decision, but I am sure you will figure it out. In the end, I was very happy with my original dress.

your mom probably feels bad because she wasn’t with you to choose your wedding dress- something a mom really looks forward to. Which is why she wanted to see you in some wedding dresses! I am sure your first dress is just beautiful and you shoudl love it!!

I have just gone and bought this very same dress from MH over the weekend. And I’m having doubts about it at the moment. Maybe it’s fairly normal to have doubts over the dress. Otherwise, we could swap.
